Guest siu99spj Posted October 22, 2003 Report Posted October 22, 2003 Anyone know a quick and free(ware) way of converting a WMA file to MP3? Its not quick unfortunately, but it does work. Get the WMA and assuming it doesn't have any copyright protection (Damn Windows XP), play it in WinAmp, ensuring the output is set to 'Write To WAV' mode (Or whatever its called). Then get the new WAV file and pass it through LAME or similar et voila, one freshly made MP3. As I said its not quick, its not very clever but it does work. Personally I have Cool Edit Pro, which I can queue the WMA's up and batch convert them to MP3's keeping things like the ID tags and such, but its a bit expensive for the casual user (Its a professional WAV studio app). Hope that helps until someone can suggest a better app!
