Story of a dead SPV (including a small warning)

Well, I finally toasted my first SPV, when trying to recover it

Short story : HTC loves buggy code - and avoid replacing your bootloader if not absolutely necessary.

Long story : the backup code (qfs thing) is flawed, and only backups ONE HALF of the bootloader (it should backup from 0 to 0x40000, but only backups 0 to 0x20000) - for the moment they managed to avoid breaking things between different bootloaders, but I don't want to imagine what will happen when they do - the bootloader will happily jump to a non existant part of the code and crash here

Less interesting part of the long story : I managed to get in this situation with a flawed backup, and ended with a semi functional bootloader (booting WinCE, but no interactive mode) - then I tried to find a way to flash it from Windows, finally found one, only to realize that the bootloader was write-protected, but not erase-protected (quite logical isn't it ?) - I'll let you guess what happened next :)
