Orange spv e100 - can't get the pc to link with the phone

Can anyone help! I have installed the activesync (1.7.1) software and plugged in the docking unit into the usb port of the pc then when I connect the phone to the docking unit, an icon appears in the 'My Computer' screen. After this I load the activesync but I won't connect. If I go into 'file' then click on 'get connected' I get a list telling me what to do (1. connect the cable to the pc 2. turn the device on etc). After this it starts to search through all the COM ports searching for a USB device but when it gets to COM port 3 it crashes the pc everytime.

Can anyone help me???

i'm currently battling this too.. if you have more than one usb port, swap em over! that seems to work.

I was told to uninstall all usb devices in the device manager but when I reboot they reappear again, is this normal???

yes, but don't plug the phone in until you have uninstalled and reinstalled activesync.. also look for the 'show all devices' options and uninstall the phone etc.
