The number 2 key appears to turn my phone off...

Okay, this is a bit of an odd problem. I woke up this morning to find my phone had turned itself off. Something it hasn't done before, but I just put it down to low battery. When i turned it on and tried to write a msg I noticed that the number 2 key didn't seem to push in like the other keys, as though something sticky was underneath, but it still worked. As I was poking the key trying to see if I could see anything I noticed that the phone had turned itself off again. After turning it back on and pressing the number 2 key in for a few seconds it turned off again.

Anyone have any ideas what could be the problem?
