Guest stevesb6 Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 Hope someone can help. I was downloading the 15086 update to my phone when at around 48% it stopped and said there was a problem with the update and to unplug the phone and start again. Followed all the instructions and now my PC won`t recognise my phone so can`t reload the update, all I can get is the 3 colour screen and can do a hard reset but that`s it. Is this the end for my phone or can I do anything else to save it. Any advice appreciated.
Guest Simon Desser Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 Just run the update from the 3 colour screen, it should be fine :) (I always run updates this way anyway) Cheers Simon Welcome to MoDaCo by the way :(
Guest stevesb6 Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 Thanks for the reply Simon but I have tried this several times and either get a cannot open rom imge file error 104 message or cannot find device message error 101. I`ve tried downloading the update from a couple of different sites but I think what I need is the original software to start over again from scratch, anyone got any idea where I can get it??? Steve
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 Try this, Connect the phone to the PC when on the Canary screen, Reboot the PC and try and run the update again.
Guest stevesb6 Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 Tried that but still getting this "error 104 cannot open rom image file" Maybe I should just use it as an excuse to get the new SPV E200 in a couple of weeks.
Guest James Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 can you do a hard reset on the phone? Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest Simon Desser Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 Tried that but still getting this "error 104 cannot open rom image file" Maybe I should just use it as an excuse to get the new SPV E200 in a couple of weeks. It might be worth trying to "downgrade" to say the Orange UK 1.35 ROM, and if that works, run your update again, but from the 3 colour screen :?: Failing that, do you know anyone with a "full back up" on an SD card :?: Whereabouts are you?
Guest stevesb6 Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 Yes I can do a hard reset and it passes ok. Unfortunately I don`t have the orange update as it`s an i-mate which I got in Dubai, anyone know where I can get it from? At the moment I`m in a small village called Baston about 10 miles north of Peterborough, UK. Don`t know anyone with full backup bummer.
Guest Simon Desser Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 You can get the UK Orange Rom from http://www.orange.com/english/forwardthink...ate2.asp?bhcp=1 But, depending on what your ROM was before, you "could" end up with a problem of the phone stuck "sunset screen" :?: The safest sure way is to find someone nearby with a full SD card back up, but seeing it won't boot anyway, I reckon you've got nothing to lose in trying the Orange ROM.
Guest stevesb6 Posted October 26, 2003 Report Posted October 26, 2003 OK tried the Orange update but still the same problem, I`m not sure if I`m looking at this right but could it be that my rom is now wiped and I need the original rom to reflash it , bit like flashing the bios on a computer. Question is where to get it, also not too sure how this SD card way works even if I can find one, maybe I will have to try the local Orange shop as even though it`s an i-mate phone I am using an Orange sim. Anyone with any other ideas I will be more than willing to try them if possible.
Guest martin Posted October 26, 2003 Report Posted October 26, 2003 I suppose you could try the imate software at www.imate.com althogh it may not make a difference.
