Hi all

I jiust thought i would let you guys and girls know about my current woes with OCS.

I called them to report some issues i was having (the unable to answer call, dropping calls when i do a cell change, and pocketoutlook purging deleted items randomly) on the 17, and accepted that it might take 72 hours to get a response from the technical department.

its now 8 days later and still no word from the technical support people, and eveyone i call says "Its with technical, you will have to wait for them".

they are now saying it might be monday before we hear something from technical. So my question is do i just phone them every hour to find out if they have done anything or evey 30 minuites?

A tactic I used in the past to great effect was to get a fax number from OCS so you could provide suppporting documentation, then type and print 3 copies of a letter to them complaining about the poor service.

Tape the 3 copies together in a loop through your fax machine and set it going.

Don't forget to put a contact number on the letter so they know how to contact you to stop the fax!

It took two runs of about 50 copies of the fax to get them to contact me. I think I might have taken their fax off-line because it kept failing to connect after a while.

Shock update number 4 - The result

Don't go down so easy Owen ... get 'em to give you some money off your next bill too!!!

All those missed calls which could have lead you to direct cash ... emails you had to respond to within 30 seconds to get that big cash deal but you couldn't get coz of their sh**y gprs connection ... :) :(

And don't let them fob you off:

Cradle is not the same as SPV one

Battery is not the same as SPV one

Make sure they include E100 specific ones!

the new offical replacemet for your spv is the E100, all you need is 5 broken ones first :)

according to orange i am getting

phone

battery

charger

cradle

cd-o-fluff

book-o-lies

camera

hands free headset

and in return they get

1 slighty used spv with email issue

cradle - with power conversion

charger with cat bite marks

cd of fluff (without outlook key)

book-o-lies

box - with beer stains

....and pocketoutlook purging deleted items randomly)

The Deleted Items folder does get completely emptied (including deleted SMSs) when you do a Send/Receive Email with deleted email in the Deleted Items folder. Is this the behaviour you're experiencing?

the deleted items problem is not that the phone isn't deleting things from the phone its deleteing them from the server.

when the phone is talking to an IMAP server it should flag the item as deleted and the client can delete the item localy but not from the server, to delete the items from the server the client has to send a purge command

i was bored so i learnt how to talk imap :)

A system flag is a flag name that is pre-defined in this

specification.  All system flags begin with "".  Certain system

flags (Deleted and Seen) have special semantics described

elsewhere.  The currently-defined system flags are:

       Seen       Message has been read

       Answered   Message has been answered

Flagged    Message is "flagged" for urgent/special attention

Deleted    Message is "deleted" for removal by later EXPUNGE

Draft      Message has not completed composition (marked as a

                   draft).

Recent     Message is "recently" arrived in this mailbox.  This

session is the first session to have been notified

about this message; subsequent sessions will not see

Recent set for this message.  This flag can not be

                   altered by the client.

the phone had an issue and orange took there sweet time looking into it so i have a new phone on its way to me, just to stop me phoning them every 30 mins with a "fixed it yet", "why doesn't it work?" and other stupid questions.
