Guest Matt Kirby Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 (edited) Here is a new program that I have written. It's been available to Plus members for a while, but I'm now letting everyone have it. It's a small program to make it easy to copy supported files types (cab, wav, various media files, exe) to the appropriate places on your Smartphone- with the option to then install copied cab files. Once installed you can right-click on any of the supported file types and then send the file to your Smartphone, automatically to the correct places (so no more having to remember where your ringtone should be saved!). It is a beta, so do tread carefully; but I doubt that it will do much damage! Post any bug reports, suggestions, etc here; however do read the “readme.txt” file first, especially the “Known Issues” section. Have fun! If upgrading please un-install previous version first - you will end up a very confused system if you don't! [EDIT] New in version 0.7- * Now (properly!) supports .gif, .jpg, .jpeg and .asx files. * Added option to change the default directory that .exe shortcuts are copied to (edit .ini file). * Will now create target directories if they don't exist. [/EDIT] **********Download Installer Package from here.********** Edited November 8, 2005 by Matt Kirby
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 Hey, this is really good - thanks for the release :) spacecowboy EDIT: And i'll be buying a fair few of those T-Shirts too..nice !!!
Guest yoos Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 I was happily using an older version of this on my parents PC when I was staying with them. I now tried to install this latest version on my home PC and it doesn't show up when I right click on an item in Windows Explorer. I'm using XP Home Edition.... It shows up in my add/remove programs list and I can see the txt and exe in the windows folder, but nothing shows up when I right click. I rebooted and that still didn't work... Any ideas???
Guest yoos Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 Just noticed that... I DO have an option in Windows to copy WAV, AVI, MPG, MPEG, MPE, WMV, HOME.XML, and EXE ...but DO NOT have an option for CAB, MP3, WMA I know the readme doesn't mention GIF, JPG, and JPEG, but I thought these were supported in earlier releases? I'm probably just mistaken, but thought I'd ask... I used this mostly for copying HOME.XML and just installed it and tried a CAB, which is how I found out it isn't supporting all the files it should on my PC...
Guest Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 Hmm.. Odd that it only works for some file types - sounds like some of the Registry settings haven't been properly set by the installer. Assuming that your Windows installation is on C: the reg files in the attached zip should sort things out for you. Unzip them all and then double-click to merge them into your Registry. If your Windows installation is not on C: either PM me with the drive it is installed on, or edit each reg file before merging. (Right click the reg file to edit in Notepad) Has anyone else had problems like this? I'm having another look at the installer to see if I can find the problem. GIF & JPEG - I hope to add support for graphics files in future releases, if enough people will find it useful.Reg settings.zip
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 Im using it just as the first instructions stated - fine @ my end m8. spacecowboy
Guest d523xar Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 the programme doesnt work on my spv :) i get an error message saying " failed to connect with SPV and to check all connections and that active sync is running" but my active sync is running fine. Any ideas any1
Guest shadamehr Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 ^ Me too, even though my Active Sync was working fine, had the amber signal meaning I needed to update my sync, and the second after I got the same error message, i pressed the sync button on ActiveSync and it worked fine. Then straight after, I tried sending, and got the same error message.
Guest Matt Kirby Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 I think that there is a problem with Activesync 3.7 - I'm looking into it.
Guest Matt Kirby Posted December 24, 2003 Report Posted December 24, 2003 [EDIT] ActiveSync 3.7.1 problem has now been fixed. This update has been rolled into version 0.6 - see first post. [/EDIT]
Guest shadamehr Posted December 24, 2003 Report Posted December 24, 2003 Still failed for me, but it gets a lot further now - I notice that with the cab I was trying to copy and install however, the text that popped up indicated a location of IPSMwhateverwhatever... The E200 doesn't have a directory named IPSM any more - its just called Storage... This why?
Guest Matt Kirby Posted December 24, 2003 Report Posted December 24, 2003 [EDIT] Now works with 2003 OS - see first post. [/EDIT]
Guest soulsniper Posted December 26, 2003 Report Posted December 26, 2003 I think that's a good idea, to have the locations files go to be read from a simple (XML?) text file. Some of us have our files stored in categorised places etc and this would make things easier to follow form. Nice program btw.
Guest Matt Kirby Posted December 26, 2003 Report Posted December 26, 2003 >BUMP I've added a new update, that fixes the ActiveSync 3.7.1 bug, adds support for configurable target folders via an ini file and now supports 2003 devices. See http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?p=341797#309324>first post.
Guest Matt Kirby Posted December 29, 2003 Report Posted December 29, 2003 I'm working on the next update, which will add support for .jpg, .jpeg, .gif and .asx files. Anyone have any other suggestions for things to add? Any problems with the current version? I'll look into any suggestions and I'll see what I can do.
Guest Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 ^BUMP 20 Jan 2004 - Updated to 0.7 RC4 - see first post.
Guest AttentioN Posted May 4, 2004 Report Posted May 4, 2004 Hi there, I would like to request: Making htm and html file compatible. You see, I download websites using webzip. Hence, I want it to be sent to my phone automatically.. Hope, you consider this. :D
Guest Posted May 4, 2004 Report Posted May 4, 2004 I'll have a think about that one... If enough people request it I'll look into it!
Guest jcjdoss Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 It works on some cab's but not all, the same with other compatible file types. Any answers?
Guest Matt Kirby Posted July 23, 2004 Report Posted July 23, 2004 Sorry - I've been away for a while and I haven't been scanning the forums so I've only just noticed your question. When you say it works on some files but not all, do you mean that it copies some files or that the right click menu entry only appears on some files? What happens when it doesn't work?

It doesn't matter now, I installed 2003 for the mpx200 and it doesn't work at all. Me thinks it is due to the change from storage card to mounted volume
Guest Matt Kirby Posted July 24, 2004 Report Posted July 24, 2004 SmartPhoneSendTo does work with 2003 - the easiest way to do this is to uninstall it and re-install, and select the "Smartphone 2003 OS" option in the installer.
