use of 3g sim in non 3g handset

it seems like it's possible, from what i've read on this and other boards.

obviously, you won't be able to use video conference and other "special" services from 3g providers, but regular gsm calls and gprs data transfer are possible.

the new motorola 3g handset has better battery life, though. should last through a day of regular phone usage on one charge :)
