How Much Do I Owe? 2003

A program for when youre eating out with your friends to calculate how much each person owes + tax + tip. You can input names (or just initials) of people at your dinner, how much their food costs, how much tax came to, how much of a % youd like to leave for tip and then have it calculate how much each person owes. that would be a program worth owning... it seems theres always about $10 un accounted for : P

I'm sure there's already an app that does that. Try searching the programs section, or main. I can't be bothered actually finding it for you... :)

I think you should read The Restaurant at the End of the Universe by Douglas Adams. There's a space ship in that which is powered by Bistro Maths, it works on the principle that the mathematics involved in calculating how much any one person owes towards the bill is the most complex calculation possible... the energy created by this is enough to power a space ship to the other end of space and time.

On the other hand, you could do what we Brits do, divide equally and if there's any change left over then that's the tip. None of this 20% nonsense :)

SmartTip's just for calculating tips, not what everyone owes. Sometimes people get $5 desert while others gets $17 meals so dividing evenly wouldnt work.. I do like the bistro maths method though :)

If the people I went out for a meal with started arguing about who ate what, and how much it cost, I wouldnt go out with them again :!:

I'd like a REALLY quick way of reminding myself to call people. I have to stick diary events in all the time, which takes too long, and fills my diary with rubbish

What about a tool to set (multiple) reminders to phone/visit people from your contacts list - an option to add a new contact would be useful cos sometimes I dont have their details already.

I'd like to be able to tell it that I'll call them back in N minutes, or on a specific date and time.

An option to actually place the call when the reminder goes off would be cool, and a "snooze" type option to repeat the call back in N minutes (that could be a global setting) in case I don't get through.

Above all though it has to be very quick to add new reminders in, I've got goldfish memory!

I think programmers wanting to win this prize could do worse than browsing some of the more sensible posts in wishlist...

I would love to see the tasks function as a homescreen plugin - so you could see, say, the first 3 tasks on the list on the homescreen, with end dates/time.

Or a notepad/list program which could be quick accessed from the homescreen???? For, like, shopping lists & stuff ...

Already done. Use the Outlook Tasks section. The built-in Task Manager (ignore auto-link, not relevant) is a bit crap though, I'd recommend Oxios ToDo list.

I use it for all sorts of things like shopping lists (e.g. run out of something, take a note and get it next time you are at the shops). Each task can have a start date & time, and you can set reminders.

And as it syncs via Outlook, you can work with them on the PC.

Thanks for the tip - I've just downloaded it!
