Unable to receive SMS

This is driving me mad, and Orange have been as helpful as a chocolate teapot:

All weekend I have not been able to receive any text messages from networks other than Orange. I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SEND MESSAGES FINE.

Does anyone know what might be the matter? The same thing is also happening to a friend of mine with the same handset, etc.
