Guest jcronje Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 Hi, We are developing a game engine, capable of playing boulderdash/supaplex, sokoban, pacman, minesweeper variation type of games, and mix all of the above in one level ! (And much more objects and items.... free map/game addons) It will be released on the pocket pc, smartphone and palm os. Smooth scrolling like supaplex... It is called the "Cavics Engine". If you want to know when the public beta will be available of when the game is released, send an email to [email protected] with the subject CAVICS. Look at our website for some images. Cronotech CC

Guest midnight Posted October 29, 2003 Report Posted October 29, 2003 how much are you charging for using that games engine?
Guest jcronje Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 We haven't though of "selling" it to "developers" who want to create games with it... If all goes well we might release a tool that you can use to create games for the engine.. Otherwise, the idea we have is to sell the cavics engine with the basic 4 games included. All future games and addons and level packs will be freeware. We already have great ideas for extra free games that will work with the engine. Shortly after the cavics release, a 1000 level, level pack will be released as freeware. (1000 boulder/supaplex style levels.) We also have 1000 sokoban levels included in the basic product. You can expect a christmas freeware pack, a spidy-dog freeware pack, and some "zelda" type of games.
Guest midnight Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 was just wondering thats all, because developers are even turning their noses up at the prospect of paying to license Gapidraw and so are sticking with the (buggy) 2.04 release, so if no-one will pay for gapi then you would struggle to sell yours thats all (if you did plan on selling it) and also, its a bit specialist, only really creating a couple of types of game, great for beginners I suppose :)
Guest jcronje Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 The BETA version of cavics is available at www.smartphone.net !! Go and give it a try, and send us your comments and suggestions. (PS: I couldn't email everybody that requested notification, I had a major harddisk failure... lost a lot of data... likely I had enough backups of our software to keep the cavics engine rolling. But I lost most of my email :-( )
