Guest stormy23 Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 This is a 100% working method for un-network locking a Orange SPV E100 with the 1.00 Bootloader. You will need: The unlock utility http://lifeetc.org/unlock.php The update to downgrade to 0.98 bootloader ftp://download.orange.com/Canary_RUUv0.32....smartphone.exe The update to upgrade to IMATE 1.5 bootloader http://www.imate.com/imate/files/EnglishA.zip As you may be aware and as covered in loads of other posts you cannot use the unlock software with 1.00 bootloader as it doesnt work. Try and run the unlock software and it will just say error messages. Download the SPV (First SPV) update file and install it on your phone. This will delete the windows install on your SPV E100 using your USB docking cradle. Dont panic it is supposed to do this. It will have installed bootloader 0.98 instead of the normal 1.00 your were previously running. You will notice at this point that the phone will no longer bootup and will pause on the Orange sunset screen. This is perfectly normal do not panic. Boot the SPV E100 into the bootloader screen (Canary screen) by holding down the record and power button. Place the SPV into its docking station and run the unlock application. This will hopefully work and generate a unlock code for you thats unique to your phone. Jot down the unlock code. Download and install the IMATE 1.5 update. Make sure the SPV is connected in its docking cradle and in bootloader mode before you do this. After the install Turn on the phone and let it detect your settings and SD card. Then switch off the phone. Insert a new (Non Orange) sim into the phone. After a few seconds you will be prompted for a unlock code. Type in the unlock code you got earlier and the phone should then accept your new non-orange sim card. Hope this is easy to follow as other posts werent when i did it. Scott Brett
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 Welcome to the site :) Thanks for posting this but..... Not an advisable method to SIM unlock your phone unless you really do want to ensure you invalidate your warranty, also using the I-Mate will change the radio stack. The best way is to just downgrade the bootloader only.
Guest Richie M Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 Yeah, this advice has been given in IRC many a time as a last resort BUT; You should ONLY use this method if you cant downgrade the Bootloader via an SD Card! This method is a last resort only!
Guest stormy23 Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 I wasnt aware of a alternative method of doing this task. I normally have a old bootloader and a new one so that if i have problems i can always recover. Cheers anyway
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 There is now a new version of the SIM unlock app http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?p=355542#355542
