Guest Brody Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 I just successfully downloaded an MMS message for the first time :? (its never worked before!) and this was its contents! What a let down! Is this from Orange as the subject suggests? the number i received it from was 765.ss000.JPG
Guest mmoir Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 I too received this, but for me it was an sms. Orange a few days ago sent a text saying they would be sending through a sim update for international use as an sms, so I presume that this was it.....I would like to know if it's automatically done it or if I need to do something to this "object"...can anyone else help at all??
Guest goinnuts Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 it was several picts of a women dancing saying its that time again. dont forget to turn your clocks back pretty piontless raelly just made me laugh when i wa s drunk.
Guest ajb3000 Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 I got that MMS, it was an animation with the words to the time warp song on it, then at the end it said "don't forget the clocks go back on sunday". Quite cool I thought.
Guest PsychoDave Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 Bit late though :? Mine came through at 8.00 this morning. Can't see many people having went that long without realising the clocks had changed.........but then again :)
Guest Brody Posted October 29, 2003 Report Posted October 29, 2003 Thanks! Shame I can't see it, and it was a little late, and the SPV alters the time automatically :)
Guest Rob_Quads Posted October 31, 2003 Report Posted October 31, 2003 I got one of these today. Are these official orange things as I can't remember subscribing to any and being as I am moving onto PAYG GRPS the way it just connects without telling you could cost me money as currently I am not using any apps that use GPRS.
Guest stevewright Posted October 31, 2003 Report Posted October 31, 2003 Brody - my one failed, and had that "Object" box, but I got sent this one yesterday: Anyone find it funny? Or am I missing something...pic144214.gif
Guest mike-oh Posted November 1, 2003 Report Posted November 1, 2003 Who and what the hell are the Quiffs? Not fair tho, i want one :)
Guest Brody Posted November 1, 2003 Report Posted November 1, 2003 Yeah, I got it too stevewright! Orange have sent me 3 messages in the last week!
Guest Rob.P Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 ^ Ditto, didn't realise I had phoned up for free Photo messaging or in laymans terms junkmail via MMS. Phone 150 if you want to stop it, took awhile to explain what I was on about (ended up sending them a fax with pictures drawn on it   ).
Guest stevewright Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 More importantly - I just got my bill: they cost me 40p each to receive! Spam you have to pay to receive - sneaky ORANG£...
Guest Brody Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 You are kidding me!? I presume you are talking about GPRS costs?
Guest podavies Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 More importantly - I just got my bill: they cost me 40p each to receive!    Spam you have to pay to receive - sneaky ORANG£... Thats rough
Guest stevewright Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 Nope. 152 WILL be getting a call! Not sure about GPRS costs, but 0.340+VAT = 40p! And what is Multimedia Services Recd (received?) for 0p?cost.jpgcost2b.jpg
Guest Rob_Quads Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 Got charged 40p myself. Got straight on the phone. Was told 765 should be a FREE service and a mistake must have been made. Said it was NOT down as a common problem (yet) but she was going to highlight it incase it is. Have been refunded the 40p charge. So CHECK your bills if you got the message. If you are charged ring up and they will sort you out a refund. Might only be 40p but think how much Orange will make from it if people don't pick up on it!
Guest rawmike Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 I have phoned orange about this, and they have said that the message didn't come from them, and that someone is using the orange name illegally. I said that I have heard of others that have had the same thing through, and they have asked if anyone has could they contact orange, as it is another company using orange's name without permission, and legal action is going to be taken.
Guest Rob_Quads Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 Pretty sure its only Orange that can send from 3 digit numbers (the 765) - if it was spam from another company it would have 5/6 like alot of these txt-vode numbers.
Guest rawmike Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 I am just telling you what orange have said to me. They said that they don't send any picture messages out, and when I described it they said it wasn't from orange, I told them that it said from orange, and they have said that it must be from another company using orange's name illegally, and have passed it on to there legal team.
Guest stevewright Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 My experience is now the same as Rob_Quads - told the 765 service should have been free, and got my 80p refunded.
Guest Brody Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 My bill will be here soon, i'll check it and let you all know!
Guest Fat Freddys Cat Posted November 12, 2003 Report Posted November 12, 2003 Hooray for modaco! Was fuming when I saw this on my bill, came on here, and got that reassuring "you're not alone" feeling. Called Orange. Pretty much the same as above Orange Geordie Lady: Sorry, that message was not from Orange. Me: Look, it's a 3-digit number, surely that has to be from you? OGL: Well, it looks like it is from Orange. You should not have been charged for that. I'll refund you. Me: Thank you. What gets me is, how many people won't have noticed that on their bill, or not bothered to complain? How much money are Orange making from this "mistake"?
Guest Brody Posted November 13, 2003 Report Posted November 13, 2003 Just rung, all sorted, i'm glad i posted that faulty MMS now!
