Guest The PocketTV Team Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 According to this brighthand article: Microsoft's operating system for smart phones will get support for QVGA (320 by 240 pixels). If that's true, I wonder how this will affect the UI of existing applications, since Smartphone applications generally have a hard-coded UI that assumes the display is 176 by 220 pixels... Or will this higher res be a special mode only used by some apps (e.g. video games, video players, readers, web browsers etc) ?
Guest McHale Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 hate to ask a stupid question, but will the higher screen resolution be a HW/SW upgrade or merely SW? -Mc
Guest The PocketTV Team Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 Hardware and software. Current Smartphone hardware only supports 240x176.
Guest midnight Posted October 29, 2003 Report Posted October 29, 2003 yup, its true, wm2k3 has support for higher res screens, its already been seen with the latest toshiba pocket pc which runs at 480 x 640, and i hope/presume it works similar to a pc and switches res accoriding to application, in fact, i can see that as the only way this could possibly work, otherwise it simply wouldnt be backwards compatible.
