Guest martin Posted October 29, 2003 Report Posted October 29, 2003 I just tried downloading and installing pocketTV and it worked OK. I clicked on Trial from here and it downloaded a file called pockettvprosmartphone-0[2].10.14 I double clicked the above file The SPV prompted me to save to Phone or SD card. I chose SD card SPV Message: MpegTV PocketTV pro.cab installed successfully.
Guest bit slow Posted October 29, 2003 Report Posted October 29, 2003 right followed what you said and it worked perfectly first time .....do you have any idea how long this trial lasts for ? cheers anyway andy :)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 29, 2003 Report Posted October 29, 2003 Which version did you download? The basic version is free and just needs you to register it.
Guest bit slow Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 hi the version that wouldn't download was the 'pockettv classic' ? i know that this is the free use version but it wouldn't let me have it? so i followed what the other guy said and followed his advice, and downloaded the 'pro' version but i would prefer the free version, as this one only lasts for seven days and keeps stopping play every 45 seconds or so..your help would be much appreciated. regards andy
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 Try to download it from http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDet...d=0&catalog=110 I have just tested the download and it worked for me, so have another go.
Guest bit slow Posted October 31, 2003 Report Posted October 31, 2003 can you tell me whether it's ok or not to install the link download on top of the 'pockettvpro' download that i have on the phone already? regards andy
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 31, 2003 Report Posted October 31, 2003 I would delete the pro version first, reboot the phone then install the classic version.
Guest bit slow Posted October 31, 2003 Report Posted October 31, 2003 right just removed the 'pro' version succesfully. rebooted, then went to install the classic version all goes well then it says on my phone: mpeg tv pockettv.cab failed to install on my device...? same as last time, mmmmmmmm bummer ay!! what do you suggest?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 31, 2003 Report Posted October 31, 2003 You could try and look in the registry and remove any PocketTV referances you find. To do this you need PHM regedit from www.monolithix.org Warning only play with the registry if you are sure you know what you are doing.
Guest bit slow Posted October 31, 2003 Report Posted October 31, 2003 tobe honest i don't really know what i'm doing , with regards to the registry type stuff, any other suggestions? or shall i just have a go?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 31, 2003 Report Posted October 31, 2003 Send Pocket TV a pm and see if they have any ideas :?

Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 5, 2003 Report Posted November 5, 2003 hi further to this impending problem.... i 'pm' the Pocket TV site and they said that the reason that it won't load is due to the phone being locked...yet i have unlocked twice through orange and both times received the 'you have been unlocked page'... but the 'Pocket TV classic' still won't install? they recon that the the phone has'nt been unlocked at all? how do i work that out then if the info i recieve is apparently correct, and yert i'm told it isn't..... what the **** is going on? please some one must have an idea... thanks in advance andy  To check that the phone is unlocked try and install one of the many apps on www.monolithix.org if they work then your phone is unlocked. I'd suggest Smart Explorer and Task Manager
Guest The PocketTV Team Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 hi the version that wouldn't download was the 'pockettv classic' ? i know that this is the free use version but it wouldn't let me have it? so i followed what the other guy said and followed his advice, and downloaded the 'pro' version but i would prefer the free version, as this one only lasts for seven days and keeps stopping play every 45 seconds or so..your help would be much appreciated. regards andy PocketTV Classic is not signed, so it can only be installed on Smartphones that are unlocked (i.e. application-unlocked, nothing to do with SIM-unlocked). Please read this FAQ article: http://pockettv.com/faq.html#unlock If you cannot install PocketTV Classic, it's probably because your Smartphone is locked. Try unlocking it. If you can't, then you still have the option of purchasing PocketTV Enterprise Edition, which is signed and will install on all Smartphones, including those that are locked.
Guest The PocketTV Team Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 can you tell me whether it's ok or not to install the link download on top of the 'pockettvpro' download that i have on the phone already? regards andy Yes. In fact PocketTV Classic and PocketTV Enterprise Edition (PocketTV Pro) are two separate applications. They can co-exist on one Smartphone. If you want you can remove one or the other with Programs/Start > Settings > Remove Application
Guest The PocketTV Team Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 right just removed the 'pro' version succesfully. rebooted, then went to install the classic version all goes well then it says on my phone: mpeg tv pockettv.cab failed to install on my device...? same as last time, mmmmmmmm bummer ay!! what do you suggest? I suggest that you unlock your Smartphone. It is currently application-locked and you can install and run only signed applications.
Guest Bylle Posted November 18, 2003 Report Posted November 18, 2003 I have the same problem but my phone is unlocked because I can install other program.....
