Guest [email protected] Posted October 29, 2003 Report Posted October 29, 2003 I heard last week from a friend of a co-worker (I believe he's of the Symbian persuasion), that Microsoft Smartphones "update" themselves via GPRS without the users approval. Could this be true? I would like a Windows update feature :) but only when I request it.
Guest madu Posted October 29, 2003 Report Posted October 29, 2003 AFAIK it is possible to push updates to phone via GPRS, but don't think they do it. Also, any major update would be to heavy to push via GPRS, especially to all users.
Guest dshaugney Posted October 29, 2003 Report Posted October 29, 2003 there are laws to prevent that. it is only legal of you agree to it. if a person is unaware of it it is illegal. for example antivirus software updates itself automatically but only if you choose the option to.
Guest [email protected] Posted October 29, 2003 Report Posted October 29, 2003 OK, let's assume that they (MS) don't push updates. Is it possible today to pull an update from MS via GPRS?
Guest midnight Posted October 29, 2003 Report Posted October 29, 2003 very unlikely ms will provide any updates directly, you will however get updates from orange via Orange Update on the phone via gprs, and there are also the usual updates that are installed via the pc :)
