Or am I screwed???????????? PLZ help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 29, 2003 Report Posted October 29, 2003 Welcome to the site :) Re-run the update from the canary screen. To get to the canary screen power off the phone then press and hold the record button while pressing the power button. When the phone starts to boot up release the keys and you should see the three colour canary screen.
Guest sgtbadass Posted October 29, 2003 Report Posted October 29, 2003 Thanx :) Yeah ok.. tried that, just getting the error, Can't read ROM.... Tried again... same message!!!!! I'm really screwed aren't I :x
Guest NeilStewart Posted October 29, 2003 Report Posted October 29, 2003 Have you... 1) Rebooted the PC 2) Erased the IPSM 3) Removed the battery for 30 seconds before trying to re-flash the phone?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 29, 2003 Report Posted October 29, 2003 With option 1, with the phone plugged in to the PC then reboot your PC also try disabling your firewall if you use one. Now try and re-run the update.
Guest sgtbadass Posted October 29, 2003 Report Posted October 29, 2003 1) Yes 2)Yes 3)Yes Still the "Error 104:cannot open the image ROM file, download the correct ROM and try again" WHAT am I doing wrong... I cannot start the phone. it ends with the canary screen... nothing else... have tried to erase ipsm...succes... but when I restart, I get "gard found" then for a 3:rd of a sec, IPSM in red, then the "press any key to enter boot loader"... WHAT.......C'MON..... I'll knock it the "#ยค" out soon!!!!!!!!!!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 Only a suggestion but in Task Manager end the wcescomm.exe process and try again. You should be able to upgrade from the canary screen. Also in the advice above option 2, Is only needed after a successfull update and Option 3, This is what you should do (and will be promted to do) immediately after the update has been run. Finally where are you located? As a last resort, if you have a Qtek and was trying the official Qtek update you may be able to take it back to the shop and get them to sort it out.
Guest ruhande Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 I had a similar problem, but after I removed my sd card and started up as described above, it worked fine! I don't know if the card removal was the actual solution, but it is worth a try!
