Guest jackofall Posted October 31, 2003 Report Posted October 31, 2003 I saw this on msmobiles.com Download live traffic incident and speed information right to your Smartphone. The graphical color-coded display lets you quickly see whether your planned route is jammed with traffic or moving fast, giving you time to change your route. You can also check traffic information by scrolling through reported incidents and roadwork in text mode. Current traffic information is linked to highway sensor data provided by the Department of Transportation, delivering up-to-the-minute traffic conditions right to your Smartphone handset. Improve your mobility and avoid the gridlock with Smart Traffic from Pharos. Features Real-Time Information Easy to see Color Coded Traffic Indicators Saves time, know traffic conditions before you go Avoid Gridlock before you’re stuck in it View in graphical or text mode Available Anytime Free Download for a Limited Time! Pharos I could do with a uk version of this :?
Guest vwspeed Posted October 31, 2003 Report Posted October 31, 2003 This appears to be very misleading. Yes, it's a free download, but you cannot actually use the software without registering. And in order to register, you must purchase their software/service. Yet, there is no apparent way to purchase this service. After some digging I found an item on mobileplanet.com for PocketPC that is a 2 year service plan for Smart Traffic at $89.99!! Great, what if the service sucks the first time I use it? A Trial would sure be nice.
Guest chucky.egg Posted October 31, 2003 Report Posted October 31, 2003 Traffic-I (traffic eye) is available on the P800 which does main UK motorways and A-roads. I thought I heard that they were working on a Smartphone version. Costs £40/year, but you can get a demo (for the P800).
Guest sugsta Posted October 31, 2003 Report Posted October 31, 2003 Actually, the product is free and you can register for free. I wondered how this all worked myself when I first got it. Didn't bother to read the entire page when I downloaded it. After you fill out the first form with your personal info, it'll take you to a screen to download the ap. At the bottom, it tells you to register and gives you the registration number and UPC number to use. I still haven't been able to successfully get the traffic ap to work on my phone, but I'll keep trying because this is THE ap to have if it works. I live in the SF Bay Area and no freeways seem to move ever.
