A new version of PocketTV has been released with a few bug fixes and now support for Smartphone 2003 :)

But a nice new feature is it allows you to take a screen shot of a movie, save it as a jpg, and email it if you wish.

Update Description: Can now save and email JPEG images from the movie. Added support for Smartphone 2003. Solved installation problem on Mitac Mio 8380. Fixed registration problem on the Arabic i-Mate Smartphone. Fixed problem when incoming call arrives while playing in Fullscreen mode.

The new version 0[1].10.15 is available for free at Handango

Visit the website -www.pockettv.com

Here's a screenshot taken with my phone whilst watching a movie :(

Nice one Simon.

Couldnt find the link to 1.15 at first for god knows what reason but got it eventually.

The quality seems even better on this release although i am not sure if thats just down to my phones attitude problem thats sorted itself out at last or what.....

Tried out the image capture and am impressed as it works a treat. The pictures are pretty good and come up lovely on wifes phone via mms. (had to edit slightly due to Spv refusing to send the image in its default size....??)

Lastly....is it me or have the pop up menus been changed to pop up on the left now instead of the right as before. its just something small that I thought I had noticed but maybe its just me.

Cheers

On Friday I kept downloading v.0.10.14 which is the Enterprise edition (?) but after emails to Handango and Smartphone.net the links today are giving me v.0.11.0. :?

Have I got the right version now ?

Did anyone else have this problem ?

That sounds like an even newer version :?:

Does it let you save images as jpegs :?:

Yup :)

You have to "map the function" to the #9 key first.

ie: Menu / Functions / ...Save picture is top of list, enter 9 and Done !

You get the option of where to save and whether you want to email straight away.

Cool !

Cool, thanks for confirming that this new feature works as advertised :)

Just curious, how did you send the image by MMS from a Smartphone ? Apparently there is no built-in MMS support on Smartphone. Is it provided on your particular Smartphone model ?

No, it's not you, it's that on Smartphone 2003 the menu numerical shortcuts are generated automatically, and they are placed on the left side.

On Smartphone 2002, the menu numerical shortcuts are *not* generated automatically, so we add them.

We used to put them on the right because we though it was more readable.

But apparently MSFT people prefer then on the left, and since it is built-in the 2003 OS, we decided to make our menus look the same on Smartphone 2002. So now the numerical shortcuts are now on the left, just like on Smartphone 2003.

Yes, this is the latest version. It fixes a few minor problems with streams that had images with size not multiple of 16x16.

Check the PocketTV Release Notes for details.

Yes, that's correct.

But you don't need to do that unless you had previously installed an older version of PocketTV.

The method is the same as for any other Smartphone application:

1) go to www.pockettv.com

2) Dowbload the setup-file for PocketTV Classic from the Download section

3) Connect your Smartphone to your PC with USB, check that ActiveSync is active (green circle logo in the Task bar)

4) Run the PocketTV Setup File on your PC.

5) Anwser OK to all the questions on the PC screen and on the Smartphone Screen.

PocketTV Classic only runs on unlocked Smartphone. If your Smartphone is locked, you need to unlock it, or you can use PocketTV Enterprise Edition (which runs on locked Smartphones).

To test PocketTV, get some test MPEG files from www.pockettv.com/mpg/sp . To copy MPEG files on your Smartphone, read the PocketTV FAQ.

The FAQ link above is screwedup by modaco. To reach the PocketTV FAQ, go to www.pockettv.com and click on FAQ on the left.

To make your own MPEG files for PocketTV, read our Simple Guide for making MPEG files optimized for Smartphone.

Enjoy!

PS: To Modaco people: it is very ennoying that URL links get screwed up when they contain the word "faq" (in lowercase), like in:

http://www.pockettv.com/faq.html#files

I entered the word "faq" in lowercase but it gets converted into uppercase by modaco. This breaks the URL even more!

Also the PocketTV FAQ link above is correct in the message source, but somehow it gets screwed-up by the modaco forum.

Modaco should *NOT* make case convertion in URL's!!! it breaks them.
