Guest mattscholey Posted November 1, 2003 Report Posted November 1, 2003 Hi, I've used Clint Eastman's settings (v2) to encode a music video, and fullscreens great, but I get a file size of 20MB for a 3min video. I've done a Search, and checked that it's using both the MP3 and DivX codecs, but I still get this huge filesize. What am I doing wrong? Many thanks, Matt
Guest Brody Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 Have u changed the audio compression? That's always what I forget and results in huge file sizes...
Guest mattscholey Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 Many thanks Brody. Checked that and I was using MP3 audio compression, and watching it while encoding, its not the audio taking up the space - its the video. The settings say the bitrate is 780kbps (or something near that) - is that what you get. I really can't see why I'm getting this problem - any help will be greatfully appreciated! Thanks, Matt
Guest Brody Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 For me it defaults to a DivX encoding bitrate of 120kbps so give that a go, that was converting an episode of friends to about 30meg.
Guest mikey1234 Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 to estimate file size formula bitrate divide by 8 times seconds of video divide by 1024(mb) example: normally i use 100 bitrate so 100 = 100000 bytes 100000 / 8 = 12500 12500 * 210 (3.5 mins)= 2625000 2625000 / 1024 = 2563kb pm me let me know if it helps

Guest mattscholey Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 Problem solved - corrected bitrate from 720kbps to 120 and im very pleased with the quality and file size. Thanks to all who helped. Matt
Guest Brody Posted November 5, 2003 Report Posted November 5, 2003 Woohoo! My option worked :) Glad to be of help!
