Guest shaia Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 I just bought an SD card reader today so that I could transfer files over from my Pc to SPV (I don't have the Orange install cd anymore and they're not being helpful when it comes to resupplying one.) Well, I transferred over a few images, mp3's and programs fine (all to the SD card, *none* of them are actually on the phone) and I was feeling really chuffed with myself until I put Doom on it... I loaded it up, and when I started the game I thought it was running a bit slow so I tried to exit out of it and close down some of my other apps... phone didn't like that much so I turned it off, hoping to reboot with a clean slate BUT NO!!! Now, whenever I turn it on (with or without SD card) it just shows up the Orange screen, and thats it! The backlight won't even turn off :) I've had this phone for ages and installed and uninsatlled loads of things no probs so what the hell have I done now???!!
Guest Brody Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 As a last chance you could always try a Hard Reset. How long have you left it sitting on the Orange Sunset screen?
Guest shaia Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 It's been sitting on that damn sunset screen for about half an hour :)
Guest Brody Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 Ouch, Hard Reset sounds like the only way out in my opinion...
Guest shaia Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 Trying to do a hard reset now - it goes fine up until the part where the guide says "push left and then close the diagnostic" That option just isn't there!
Guest Brody Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 Hold down the power button until your phone restarts and you're done :) Ps. The phone can sometimes take a little longer to startup after a Hard Reset so be patient, it should restore your phone to its "out of the box" state.
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 I had this exact problem a week ago where there was no option to close the diagnostics. Version 0.98 bootloaders seem to have this problem more than others, is that what you have ? spacecowboy
Guest Will Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 dont worry about the exit option, once it says passed, count to 10, and reboot/pull battery.. later bootloaders are missing the 'end/exit' option Will
Guest yamahar6marzzz Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 right now, i'm having the same problem.. orange screen won't go away.. don't know what happened.. the batt. was low so i put it in the charger again and turned it off. now it wont do anything except that bl@@dy orange screen! ai ai!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 Welcome yamahar6marzzz :) (bit of a late welcome but it's your first post) As mentioned above if you are stuck on the Sunset screen then your only option is to Hard Reset :(
Guest shaia Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 Thanks for all the help! Got it back up and working again - thought i was gonna have to buy a new phone! I've just got to decertify it, put in all my old numbers, settings..... :) Really appreciate all your help
