Guest chemiux Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 Hi :) I have just bought a new spv e100 and I am about to unlock it, but first i want to make sure I do things correctly. I will downgrade my canary 1.0 to .98 then get the code and afterwards updgrade to 1.0 again, but here is where my main doubt is, is there any way to backup my ROM and if so how to back it up and then how to restore. Other Option that i have read is to run the IMATE 1.5 update, is this a good idea? i dont care about the warranty but my question is will i loose any of the phone funcionalities? will it work all ok? I will really apreciate detailed information since I am new on this issues Thanks..
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 Dont start installing new roms etc if your new to everything, because it'll only muck up ure radio stack etc. Best thing to do mate is to back up your own IPSM on an old SD card incase things go wrong with the downgrade and then unlock via the OTA site : http://www.developers.orange.com/WorkingWi.../SPV/Unlocking/ spacecowboy
Guest chemiux Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 Hi. many thanks for helping me, I have already tried the orange web page to try to unlock my phone but didt work since this is a SPV E100 and i am in spain. :? by the way what is the radio stack?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 The Radio Stack is the part of the phone that deals with your ability to recieve a signal etc, If you have an E-100 with an Orange OS you will still be able to unlock your phone using the Orange Developers site. I presume you are interested in SIM unlocking your phone as you mention downgrading the bootloader after that, as you are not covered by any warranty you could just install the I-Mate or Qtek roms as both of these are application unlocked (decerted) And Welcome to the site :)
Guest chemiux Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 Yes as matter of fact i am trying to sim unlock my phone. And yet my main question is will the IMATE 1.5 work on my spv e100 or will i have problems?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 Once you have SIM unlocked your phone you can use the I-Mate update.
Guest chemiux Posted November 5, 2003 Report Posted November 5, 2003 Hi it worked fine. I could unlock my spv e100 and its working fine :)
Guest chenxigood Posted November 17, 2003 Report Posted November 17, 2003 I am newbie, too. I just wonder if there is a Chinese Version of ROM update for my spv e100? And I want to know something about bootloader and ROM update. Is it right that if i want to sim unlock the phone i must downgrade the bootloader merely? Do I need to update ROM if I merely change the bootloader?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 17, 2003 Report Posted November 17, 2003 To SIM unlock you need to downgrade the Bootloader only, you do not need to upgrade the bootloader again. As for a Chinese ROM there is the Dupod version of the SPV but I do not believe there is a downloadable version of this.
Guest chenxigood Posted November 19, 2003 Report Posted November 19, 2003 bad news for me:(bad news for me:( but i learned that smartphone2003 have chinese in it's core and i just wonder if i can use this as an alternative one in my spv e100?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 19, 2003 Report Posted November 19, 2003 If it were available (as far as I know it is not) for public download technicaly it would be possible, but you may encounter memory problems as the dupod has more ram than a standard SPV.
Guest chenxigood Posted November 19, 2003 Report Posted November 19, 2003 that would be the problem:( well, i learned that qtek7070 had a chinese input and display ability. maybe i will try that. i am interested in making the spv e100 have that ability as i am from china.
