Firmware / Hardware updates for Smartphones...

Hi all.

I have been looking through this (very helpful) "Help & Advice" forum, but cannot seem to find much in the way of a single thread describing where to find Operating System upgrades for each brand of smartphone (This info seems to be sprinkled around various threads relating to individual phones). If it has not already been created, it might become useful as the GPRS & WAP settings Repository thread has.

I personally am looking to see if my Qtek 7070 phone's OS or bootloader can be updated from its original software (Smartphone 2002 v3.0.13101.0 and Bootloader v1.4.2.46).

I would also like to change my phone back to its "Out of the Box" state - but I can't find out if I need to do a Soft Reset or a Hard Reset (I also can't see where instructions for a soft reset are kept...) - Edit 5/Nov - hahaha - I just found out - Soft Reset = Power Off, Power On

Any help with these questions would be appreciated :)

to revert to out-of-the-box you need to hard reset :)

so back up before you hard reset

if you are on Qtek, go to their website, they have OS ROM 1.5.x (ZIP file, 10MB approx)

you will find info on updating if you search this site.

caution: this may erase all settings and revert phone to out-of-box state

I spotted the download this morning, but was hesitant to install it after reading the warnings on the qtek site (Swedish phone only, english not supported, etc).
