Connecting to the Internet with MPX200: Options?

We all know ATT will be happy to rip you off per kb with Mmode if you want to browse the web, check your email, or IM. You can get a Pass Through Connection by connecting the phone via usb data cable and Activesync software and surf the web that way, but your connected to a computer.

My question is can the phone connect to the web wirelessly other than ATT Mmode? Can the phone connect to a wireless network here in the office, just like a laptop would with a wireless network card? Can the phone use a dail up 56k account to get an internet connection to surf the web without having to be connected to a laptop?

I have spoken with Motorola and ATTwireless customer service and they say no to those questions above. Anyone have any answers?

Maybe if you could get a wireless network card for the phone  . Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I think there are some SD cards on the market that do wireless networking - these would work *if* drivers were ever written for Smartphone platform.

As for the question re: using it to dial up to an ISP ... again I'm not sure but I think the answer may be yes, but you'll be charged for the phone call and may only get speeds of 9.6kbps!

Just to confirm....

If the phone indeed has an SDIO compatible slot, theoretically a WiFi card (or BlueTooth) would work....Only if the drivers were released for the Smartphone. To my knowledge, this has not been done yet.

You can definitely use your phone as a dial-up modem to surf the net or retreive emails..right on your phone. But the speeds are alot slower and you will use your minutes.

Just realized that I said basically the same as Scarfmann.....but maybe two voices are better than one.
