Guest Pondrew Posted November 5, 2003 Report Posted November 5, 2003 My original SPV that I've cherished since December last year developed the common 'stuck in headset mode' fault recently so I had the Orange shop send it off for repair under warranty. What's more I was chuffed as I got a Nokia 8310 'courtesy phone' free for the two weeks it took them to get it back (I know it's not an SPV but it was better then nothing!). Not bad seeing as how I don't have Orange Care and didn't even buy it from Orange (twas £30 from mobileshop.com on Orange 120min contract). Anyway, got it back today and was pleased to find that not only had they fixed the problem (I think...) but that it now had ROM update version 1.5.0.29! Big improvement on the 1.3x that I remember it having! Guess this is the ROM version the E100 has. Certainly seems alot more stable and more usable. Has anyone else got their original SPV back and found this? I thought the 1.5 update was never released for original SPV owners...
Guest Richie M Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 Nice, yeah the 1.5.0.29 is the E100 ROM, unsure as why they would of upgraded for you (are you sure its the same phone?) but at least you have the best publicly available ROM :)
Guest alanclose Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 The same thing happened me. It meant that the phone was no longer sim unlocked and I couldn't be arsed with all the downgrading to get it unlocked again. Check your IMEI number, they replaced part of my phone to fix the headset problem and I have a new IMEI number. If the same has happened with yours you should register the new number against your phone number
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 Yeh, this happened to my m8 couple weeks ago - pretty good of them ! spacecowboy
Guest Pondrew Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 Hmmm, pretty sure it's still sim unlocked as tried a mate's O2 pay as you go sim in it yesterday and it didn't ask for the code and worked fine. Haven't checked to make sure it's still de-certed. Doubt it will be but it's easy enough for us 'developers' to get it decertified over the air! :) It's definately the same phone as it has war wounds (scratches on the front) from where it's been dropped in the past, and besides, it's still an original SPV, not an E100. Rather chuffed as it seems quite a bit quicker and more stable. Sorry to say I've already had to reboot it though when dialling out stopped working :( Gonna start looking at upgrade options as want an E200. If I do end up selling my SPV I spose it having rom version 1.5 will be a selling point!
Guest broeren79 Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 I am having the problem where i can't access the mobile orange portal thru gprs, where as i can connect to modaco or any other site thru gprs. I called orange and the told me to go to a service point where they can install the rom 1.50.xx update for me. funny thing is that i have the .exe for the dutch 1.50 uopdate on my pc. It was released thru the internet a while ago, but taken off again without any obvious reasons. So I installed it, didn't work, but he...i don't use the protal that much.... Bottom line... it was released or something, 'cause i still have it on my pc... (anyone want the 1.50 dutch rom? just pm). Furthermore...it is available at orange servicepoints, cause they sent me out to get it there.....
