MPx200 thoughts?

Hello all,

I picked up an MPx200 the other day on trial as my nokia 3650 is going crazy. I have to admit I like this much more that I thought I would. The onr thing that I would miss is the lack of Bluetooth. I love the flip phone( always liked them) but am wondering if it would be better to wait for the next generation with the newer OS and maybe bluetooth built in.

I had heard some rumors that Motorola was rushing to get this to market for the holiday season. Of course you can never tell. I know that there will always be better and better phones but I would feel stupid if in January this one was nixed and a new version with bluetooth and the 2003 os was released.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.. The more I use this phone the more I like it compared to my 3650. I had heard a rumor that the SD/MMC slot could be SDIO and that you may be able to get a bluetooth card for it but who knows...

I can guarantee you that moto isn't going to come out with something in January. Now maybe some other maker will, but that would be corporate suicide to put out a phone in October, then after 3 months come out with another phone that replaces the original. Most of the time, it's at least 12 months if not more before a new device will hit the market. Look at Orange, the SPV came out 12-18 months ago (not sure the original date), and the E200 is just getting to go to market now.

Without a doubt the moto mpx200 is the best Smartphone on the market right now. Yes it doesn't have BT or a camera, but there's never going to be that "killer device" that makes everyone happy. To me, the camera is just a toy...have you ever seen how cheesy the images are, not one camera I've seen has been worth the extra cost (and I seen or had them all). And the only use for BT is for wireless headset...how often are you going to exchange data with another person using BT?

Well don't be too sure that 220 wont be realesed in jan/feb. Look a mitac they will release 10  new handsets in 2004.

Why couldn't motorola do the same thing?

Nokia and the rest of the "ordinary handset companies" are releaseing a LOT of handsets each year

I'll stick to what I said, and get back to you in Jan/Feb..... :)

Mitac says 10 phones but that won't be all at once nor will they be available in all areas of the world. Think about it this way, how many different designs and feature sets can you think of, how could they make 10 phones that differ that much. Just the tooling and production alone for 10 totally different models would be astronomical if done all at the same time. Even Nokia doesn't put out 10 different phones at once.

The mention of the 220 from Moto has only been noted on a couple of sites and the ones I saw mentioned that it would be sold in Germany, not the US, not the UK, and not Asia. Besides, at this point, it's all rumor, no press prelease, no factual data yet.
