Phantom SMS Messages that wont view or delete

Hi, wonder if anyone can lend some advice, I have a bunch of text messages stuck in the Deleted Items on my SPV E100, I can see them in preview but can open the message and when I empty the deleted items they remain.

Also what happened to the backup option in active sync - with my old XDA I could do a full backup but this doesnt seem to be available with the SPV E100.

And back-up option for the Smartphones is removed from Activ Sync
