Guest Chief Nourisher Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 Hi, I haven't had any problems with my SPV until now and now I'm really in the thick of it. My phone has just stopped working. I thought it was locked, pulled it out of my pocket and it was turning itself off. So I turned it back on, went throught the usual orange sunset screen, then the smartphone screen and then nothing. I'm stuck with my phone on the normal homepage, without a signal, with a low battery according to this, without a time or date and all it says is that it is in silent mode. The backlight stays on, it vibrates when I first start it up and after that, nothing. Can't do a thing. it won't let me press a button or turn it off. Its just stuck there. Any advice anyone? Got a feeling I'm going to loose a lot of stuff on my phone here. Thanks,
Guest Fragmaster Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 Yeah I think the only way to get out of this is a hard reset :)
Guest Chief Nourisher Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 Big Big  The best thing was, I rang Orange and they said "Your phone has been diagnosed with a fault!" - No s**t Sherlock!!! Thanks for your help though. If anyone else has any ideas before I do the inevitable, they would be greatly appreciated. Judgement day starts at 2200 hrs GMT You have till then to save my data :)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 Remove the battery, then replace plug in the charger then turn the phone on. Just an idea :? Failing that then a hard reset is the only option before replacement :)
Guest Chief Nourisher Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 I will give that a shot and see what happens. It really is just dead at the minute. if I stick it in my car it might change the profile and that might work. Strange thing is though that when I hooked it up to the computer, the computer didn't even recognise it. But will give it a shot anyway and let you all know. Thanks for all your help
Guest PsychoDave Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 Just a thought but have you tried to connect to the phone via usbterm? Dunno if it would work but you might be able to access the bootloader and save your IPSM. But then again it might be that thats buggered, hopefully not though. Worth a bash anyways, Good Luck :)
Guest Chief Nourisher Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 Well judgement day didn't come after all. With the phone turned off, I inserted my charger (after no luck in the car or with the computer). The charging light came on which I was quite surprised about. I left it for a bit and then turned the phone on and to my surprise, it worked. It went through the full start up and then connected to Orange. This morning I backed up all my data and sent it back to Orange and shou.d be getting my new one at 1pm. I think I will have lost all the text messages as I couldn't figure out a way to download them, but thats ok. Anyway, thanks for all your help everyone. Could have kept the phone, but it was saying my battery was dead when it wasn't, so I think the fault may be around this area, but it still doesn't really explain why it was sticking on one page and not letting you do anything. Hopefully won't see it again, cheers
