Guest Pagemakers Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 Just done an Orange upgrade. FYI - Orange no longer offer free Orange Care on ANY tariff anymore. Care costs £5pm. So any of you thinking of upgrading to the e200 in the next couple of weeks beware, you WILL loose your free Orange Care (if you have it).
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 Interesting, I recieved a letter offering to continue my care for £4
Guest Pagemakers Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 ........... Until you upgrade that is!
Guest stevewright Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 I was paying £4, and they changed it up to £5 a month without a letter to tell me! Would argue it, but it ain't worth it for £1....
Guest dan Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 I want to upgrade to E200 and then sell the phone. Could probably make £200 profit on ebay. Thing is I want to keep my SPV insured. Orange have told me they can only insure the registered handset. Any clue how to get round this? Dan
Guest amo Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 Take out third party insurance through your bank, credit card company or home insurance.
Guest amo Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 I know it rocks, I was answering dans question though - orange care is available to the handset that is assigned to the contract only which his phone isn't. Unless im mistaken somewhere?
Guest Richie M Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 :? i was told this last November when i took out a new contract on my SPV :?
Guest Pagemakers Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 Basically, if you have free orange care on your phone now (like I did) you will have to pay £5pm for it when you upgrade. There is no more free orange care on any tariff.
Guest midnight Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 hehe, to be honest, i didnt even know there was tariffs with free Orange Care heheh, so definitely doesnt affect me :)
Guest Pagemakers Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 It was included on genuine Orange Talk plans, not OVP's
Guest Emad Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 I dropped my phone today :) Its all scratched and the screen is being funny - does Orange Care cover damage due to stupidity? :-/ Anyone know the number I have to call?
Guest Emad Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 :( That cheers me up no end. Will call up tmrw and see what they say :)
Guest summie Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 What you didn't mention was that O Care will now also charge you an excess of £15 evertime you claim. And I've been on O care for years and I'm paying £3ish for it - this will now go up to £5 - how unfair of O I can't wait until 3 Mobile get better phones and a wider presence because their owners Hutchinson used to own Orange when it was regarded as the best customer service operator
Guest Pagemakers Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 Oh yes, the £15 excess recently introduced. Clever!
Guest robinknight Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 What happens if my phone was damaged (T610) and I called for areplacement under Orange care, BUT I asked for a different handset (say an E200 for example) - Is it possible to pay a further charge to get a different handset under the terms of Orange care ?
Guest Pagemakers Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 You need to have the same fault 3 times before thay will swap the phone for a different model!
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 Oh yes, the £15 excess recently introduced. Clever! I assume if it's a warranty fault in your warranty period there is no charge? P
Guest Pagemakers Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 'Assuming' is a very dangerous thing where Orange are concerned :)
Guest Firaas Posted November 13, 2003 Report Posted November 13, 2003 Just done an Orange upgrade. FYI - Orange no longer offer free Orange Care on ANY tariff anymore. Care costs £5pm. So any of you thinking of upgrading to the e200 in the next couple of weeks beware, you WILL loose your free Orange Care (if you have it). Still free for business Your Plan customers AFAIK...
Guest Pagemakers Posted November 13, 2003 Report Posted November 13, 2003 Oh no its not, not after your first 12 months with Orange. Take a look at their terms and conditions, copied directly from the Orange Business website: 8 TERM & PAYMENTS - SERVICE PLAN INCLUSIVE OF ORANGE CARE 8.1 Where you are connected to a service plan which includes Orange Care the Insurance and Warranty will come into force when you register the phone on the Orange network. The Insurance and Warranty will remain in effect for a period of 12 months unless you switch to a different service plan as indicated in clauses 11.2 and 11.6. 8.2 Orange Care may be purchased separately once the initial period of 12 months has expired.
Guest Spike Posted November 13, 2003 Report Posted November 13, 2003 I got my phone eight months ago and I think it came with free orange care. Is there a way I can easily find out if I did? After reading about people getting new phones when they scratch theirs it's no wonder they introduced this! Posted from my first SmartPhone!
