Guest midnight Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 now, sorry for asking, but why the hell would you wanna do that???? :( the power button list is VERY usefull, its the quickest way to access profiles, you can lock the phone aswell as the keypad, turn off the radio, and of course turn off the phone. Theres loads of apps you can change the launch paths of in the RAI directory, personally i think its a VERY bad idea. Wont be long before someone changes :MSHome (thats the home button by the way) :)
Guest kjk Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 you can just press and hold botten to turn of your phone . I use this becuse i don't need to chang profile so offen
Guest nixy Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 now, sorry for asking, but why the hell would you wanna do that???? :) KjK. I too was wondering the same....why would you want to do that. But on closer inspection I am going to try it out as my other half wrote a little app that does the same as the built in profile changer option but she has added two assignable application shortcuts at the end of the profile list. So if I can replace it for the default one it might be Interesting/Handy. Watch this post...... Nixy
Guest amo Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 Potential for a custom profile app maybe, or assign it to quick close or quick reset?
Guest fraser Posted November 11, 2003 Report Posted November 11, 2003 I'd be happy just to use it as a general purpose button, launching a named app. I used to have the voice rec button launch the camera software, but that got zapped by the brilliant XBar tool. Would be nice to have another button to do it with. I just don't use the quick list at all. Most homescreen's allow profile selection, and I'm happy with holding down "end call" to lock (followed 10 min later by automatic pin lock). My only worry is that it's a fundamentally important button to the phone. Any ideas on the risks/problems that might occur? The only function I would miss is the "radio off" one, but I use it so rarely, I'd prefer it buried somewhere in my (well organzied) start menu anyway. But, I don't know if it's possible to create a shortcut to this function to drop into the start menu.
Guest nixy Posted November 11, 2003 Report Posted November 11, 2003 WinSXP skin is what you should try mate. It allow windows type scroll down/start menu that has profile option. I swear by it. It not only looks great but works a treat and doesnt in my opinion slow the phone down. This way you can free up the power button and still access your phones profiles on the fly. nixy

Guest crafty Posted November 12, 2003 Report Posted November 12, 2003 I agree that this could be very useful. I like having Fonix Voice Dial one button push away (or it kinda defeats the point of it, plus i'v always found the number key short cuts slow/annoying that they don't return to homescreen after use but to the dial screen). Currently i've got it mapped to the record button but this has stopped me from trying X-bar which is supposed to be v good. I never use the quick list, except in the odd occassion when i want to turn the radio off. For me therefore, i think it would be better off assigning a more frequently used program to the quick button and putting the 'quicklist' onto a numeric shortcut. 8)
Guest fraser Posted November 12, 2003 Report Posted November 12, 2003 i'v always found the number key short cuts slow/annoying that they don't return to homescreen after use but to the dial screen).Ditto. I still use them now and again, but it's a pain in the ass. this has stopped me from trying X-bar which is supposed to be v good. It is!! Think of it as an Alt-Tab equivalent on the phone. Makes switching between apps a breeze. I still use Task Manager, but very rarely. Xbar can do all the same things, close one app, close all, plus you can set up your own shortcuts, so you press voice-rec then a number key to launch apps of your choice.
