Guest Simon Desser Posted November 8, 2003 Report Posted November 8, 2003 Mick, as MS Smartphones hit the US, and MoDaCo gets even bigger than it already is, we've got to think and talk more internationally :( Unless you change the name of this thread to "Soccer" you'll get people talking about their local football teams such as the Dallas Cowboys  :) (And they'll think Lincoln was a president  )
Guest nickcornaglia Posted November 9, 2003 Report Posted November 9, 2003 Are there any Dallas Cowboy fans anymore? Even in Dallas? Funny how your football (our soccer) is so popular all over the world except in the US. I grew up in Philadelphia (Urban City) and NEVER played the game once. Our schools never even had a team. We had american football, baseball, hockey, basketball....even bowling, which I understand that you play as well, except with a much smaller ball. When I got to High School, we had a Soccer Team that I believe had to combine players with another school to make a full team due to lack of interest in both schools. Now that I've moved just 20 miles outside of the city...I see that soccer is dominant in the elementary schools through high school...but for some reason, it kind of ends there. I need to learn the game as I have a 4 year old who will be able to play soccer...er sorry, football...in a year. Sort of like hockey, right??? Except it's played on grass with a big black and white ball? I think I have the idea...just have to learn the rules.
