Adequate system permissions???

Hi Dudes,

I've just tried to install smartexplorer on my SPV. It got right through to the end of the installation, then came up with the message:

Installation failed. the program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have adequate system permissions. Please contact your service provider for more information.

Does anyone know how to deal with this?

Additionally, I got a replacement phone from orange a few weeks ago, and now whenever I install a wav file for a ring tone they disappear everytime I reboot the phone. Does anyone know why?

Your help would be greatly, I mean greatly apreciated!!!

I think the latest version of SmartExplorer is signed but older versions aren't so you'll need to have your phone app-unlocked. That's the main reason I know for stuff not installing.

As for your other problem, where are you putting your files? Anything in IPSM (and obviously Storage Card) should survive a reset, but elsewhere (eg. Windows) won't because this is volatile memory so stuff will get lost whenever you restart your phone. If that's not the problem I'm all out of ideas :)

Hope this helps.

Hi,

The problem you're having seems to be that your phone is still 'locked'. This means that unless and app is signed for (They've given money to Orange) it won't work. As most freeware apps can't afford the signing process, they come unsigned.

You'll need to unlock your phone. Hopefully, if you click on the word Unlock it will take you to the thread detailing how to unlock your phone and be able to install all the freeware apps available.

As to the ringtone problem, I don't know sorry, but it could be a similar problem. Are you certain you're installing to the right place IPSMApplication DataSounds

You can also install them onto your SD card if you have one (You'll need to search for the thread explaining that one I'm afraid).

Hope all that helps
