Guest mcwarre Posted November 9, 2003 Report Posted November 9, 2003 All, I am in the market for a flat screen monitor. I would prefer 17" in size (or whatever that is in metric!). I have not owned one before and leave it open to your knowledge as to suggestions on the best one to buy. My main requirement is cost (how low can you go), although I don't want to buy the cheapest if it is a pile of do-do. Open to you........
Guest siu99spj Posted November 9, 2003 Report Posted November 9, 2003 Personally I'm in love with my Hitachi CML174SXWB. 17" of black surrounded goodness with a fairly rapid 16ms response time. Its also relatively cheap at Dabs.com for a mere £351.32. The only slight problem is that for its extra fast response time, it doesn't officially display true 24bit colours, but to be honest I don't notice. It also has the slight problem of blending blacks together but most LCDs have that problem. The best thing is that I have no dead pixels/sub-pixels/anything! So, I strongle recommend this monitor!
Guest PsychoDave Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 Dunno if URL=http://www20.tomshardware.com/display/20031105/index.html]this is any use to you. It's a roundup of 17 monitors but it's a US site so the prices are in dollars but it might give you somewhere to start. Cheers :)
Guest Emad Posted November 11, 2003 Report Posted November 11, 2003 www.digiuk.com I got my Samsung 171P from them for £300 back in May. Next day delivery, no probs, 3 year warranty. Fab stuff. Check out those prices - treat yourself to a Sony/Samsung :) Alas, no monitor specials at the mo, but eh.. My Samsung is fab btw - would recommend any day. EDIT: Oh yeah, also check out Neovo monitors - I think ebuyer stock them. Good design and v solid. V cheap too.
