Guest mzh-arizona Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 Ok.. I own an MPx200 and I really like this phone but there are some things I'd like to change. I was wondering if anyone had already found tweaks which alter these functions.. The volume control has too few steps: when adjusting the volume of my MPx200 it seems to jump in increments of 20%. This seems to leave the volume either a little too high or a little too low. Does anyone know if this is hard-coded or if it is somehow adjustable/tweakable? The external backlight cuts out too quickly. This one's kind of self explanatory. Of course, another point of interest would be if there was a way to code for the external display like one codes for the internal home screen. Anyone? The profiles are missing one: AC Power. My old StarTac would know that when it was in the cradle/receiving AC power that it didn't need to vibrate. I was kind of surprised to find out that my MPx200 doesn't. Another profile feature which would be nice would be a timed/clock-based one; for example, I work from 1600 to 0200. During that time I would like the MPx200 to switch to Silent mode if it is set to Automatic. I'd really prefer to have it do it automatically than have to set my workdays as appointments in my calendar. I know this one is wishful thinking (and quite a bit more than a registry tweak). Thanks in advance. Ron.
Guest madu Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 1. Fine tune volume: http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=86074 It can be adjusted in registry, but the values used look something like this: 1717986918 Have a look in HKCUControlPanelVolume if interested 2. Backlight Settings Settings > 9 More > 2 Power Management > Backlight Timeout OR in registry: HKCUControlPanelBacklight (measured in miliseconds, ie 10sec=10000) 3. No such profile, but OS-wise it knows that phone is on AC power (ie PocketCandy)
Guest mzh-arizona Posted November 11, 2003 Report Posted November 11, 2003 Thanks, madu. About the fine tuning volume tweak - does anyone know how the value converts? I'm gonna mess around with it later, but I'm wondering if anyone already knows. Today during a call the volume was either too loud or a little to low. I drive a soft-top vehicle and the road noise can be a bit overwhelming; with the volume too low I just can't understand my caller. Given that this phone has multimedia capabilities I wonder if you can shape the sound (increase treble, reduce bass, vice versa). I'm going to look at the backlight settings. I was thinking more of the external display and I thought that tweak was for the interior screen backlight. Thanks again. Ron.
Guest mzh-arizona Posted November 11, 2003 Report Posted November 11, 2003 The MPx200 has an external LCD display (black/white) on the outside of the flip for caller id, messages, date and time. That one really isn't a big deal; I can just open the phone if I need to see the information displayed on the outside. I was just wondering if there was a tweak for it. I'm guessing with the volume tweak I'd have to edit the registry each time I wanted to change the volume level, huh? If that is so, then the level of change must be hard-coded. I was hoping that the number of steps could be changed in the registry. You know, 10 volume steps instead of 5. Or, in other words, pushing the volume wheel would increase/decrease the volume 10% instead of 20%. If that quantity - the percentage change in volume with each jog wheel press - was editable in the registry it would be a real find. Thanks again. Ron.
Guest crafty Posted November 12, 2003 Report Posted November 12, 2003 Try using the volume control program that Madu suggested (found in the link given in his first post) - it's really easy to use and sounds like exactly what you need to control the volume.
Guest mzh-arizona Posted November 12, 2003 Report Posted November 12, 2003 I keep trying to find it but I get DNS errors every time. When I go diretly to SmartPhony it comes up in French. Sadly, I only know Spanish. I'll keep trying, though. Thanks for the suggestions. Ron.
Guest crafty Posted November 13, 2003 Report Posted November 13, 2003 Think that Mono has the volume control on his freeware site: www.monolithix.org Hope this helps! 8)
Guest mzh-arizona Posted November 13, 2003 Report Posted November 13, 2003 Thanks, crafty.. found it. Ron.
Guest mzh-arizona Posted November 14, 2003 Report Posted November 14, 2003 Ok. Another stupid question. Now that I got the volume control program (thanks again, crafty), does anyone know of a registry tweak which maps the volume up/volume down jog-wheel action on the MPx200? Maybe I can map the wheel action to the volume control program. Yeah. I know. Wishful thinking. It's surely hardcoded. Can't blame a guy for trying.. I hope. Thanks! Ron.
Guest crafty Posted November 14, 2003 Report Posted November 14, 2003 I've had a look at this (wanted to map the vol prog to the SPV's vol buttons) - looked where you can map other buttons such as voice recorder and quicklist to other programs [HKLMSoftwareMocrosoftShellRAI] but no luck. Anyboy else got any ideas if this is possible??? I know Madu origionally came uo with how to map somehting to the voice recorder button so maybe he has some ideas???
Guest madu Posted November 14, 2003 Report Posted November 14, 2003 What exactly does the wheel button do when pressed on MPx? Does it bring up a specific application? window? quicklist?
Guest gsr264 Posted November 15, 2003 Report Posted November 15, 2003 It brings up the volume screen for the earpeice or the call, or if you push it in, it's the voice recorder
Guest mzh-arizona Posted November 15, 2003 Report Posted November 15, 2003 I might have modified mine, but when I press (quickly jab, actually) straight in on the jog-wheel it activates the voicetag dialer - unless the flip is closed, in which case it does nothing. It SHOULD still activate the voicetag dialer, but that is another issue - which is the topic of another thread in a different forum. When pressed up or down (with the flip open or closed) it just raises or lowers the volume. Of course, it raises it by 20% with each action.. but that is a topic of this thread in this forum. ;) If you have any ideas, I'd sure appreciate it. Thanks in advance. Ron.
Guest Brody Posted November 15, 2003 Report Posted November 15, 2003 Ron, back to your time based profile question, if you set your working hours in your calender and set then to busy then you can set your profile to Automatic and your phone will automatically switch to silent. Be warned though, it doesn't return to normal again after your appointment ends. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest mzh-arizona Posted November 15, 2003 Report Posted November 15, 2003 Thanks, Brody. I thought about that but I was hoping to avoid doing it. It would just complicate things; for example, in the month view every Tuesday through Friday would have a scheduled appointment - work. I'm not one of those busy executives who has tons of appointments, so for me seeing just those days on which I need to be responsible and be somewhere really helps. Thanks again. Ron.
