Guest zippyioa Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 Hi Everyone, I just got a letter from Orange saying that I am soon to get 50% more GPRS usage formy money!! :) (Its not unlimited use - but extra free is always good news - right!!) I am currently on the 2Mb for £4 bundle - and steam through that most months without really trying......... well those ever generous people at Orange have offered me an amazing 3Mb for THE SAME PRICE!!! Any extra usage above those 3Mb will be charged at £3 per Mb. ANY DOWNSIDES??!! :? Any unsed megabytes each month will NO LONGER ROLLOVER!!!??? :x (That is not so good in my opinion as if I dont use GPRS much one month, then I usually hammer it the next, and what rolled over is VERY useful..) This is going to kick in on my account from the ddate of my December bill, so I have to use up ALL of my GPRS THIS MONTH!!! Has anyone else got this letter??????????
Guest chucky.egg Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 Didn't get the letter, but the new GPRS tariifs you're talking about have a thread of their own somewhere.
Guest xanadu Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 I got the same letter this morning. The downside is that Orange will no longer carry over any unused GPRS to the next month. So really I am getting a worse deal.
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 "Goingnuts" always comes up with the goods concerning GPRS, release dates etc. This is the thread about GPRS repricing: http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php...p=315361#315361 spacecowboy
Guest madu Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 I got a promo pack that is free for 1 month and then is £4, includes: 10 SMS 20 MMS 3 MB Traffic
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 This is scary- Or ange are going up in my estimations
Guest Richie M Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 yep, i signed up with the Orange World pack madu has :) 1 month free GPRS again :(/
Guest ferret Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 I had the orange world pack for a day, until I found out it's not for the orangeinternet APN, only WAP. I think people are still arguing/discussing about it in the other thread.
Guest amo Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 Orange world IS for spv/p800/900 as well as WAP
Guest ferret Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 Strange, I read in this forum there was some uncertainty about the orange world promotion so I rang 156. "Hi, could you confirm the GPRS portion of my Orange World Pack is for full internet, using the orangeinternet access point, or is it just for the WAP portal", "I'll just check it out now for you sir", pause .... "You are correct sir, the free GPRS applies to wap only, shall I cancel it now as you'll still be charged £3/Mb for internet GPRS?" "Yes please"
Guest amo Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 :| Im sure i read an email at work saying it is spv too
Guest blewer Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 I have phoned OCS many times and no one seems to know. I get different responses every time. Mr Orange said he would find out for us and I have also sent an e-mail to Orange for them to display the correct facts of the package. Will keep you posted when I get a response At the moment I am scared to use the internet in case of a big bill :)
Guest martin Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 Right, GOT IT :) I'm just reading the details of the World Access Packs 3&5 now on the Orange intranet and I can say that (contrary to what I said earlier  ) it DEFINITELY includes everything. There is a lot of information on this but most importantly... Any customer who has an Orange wap or web phone can use it to access Orange WorldThe Orange World Access packs offer access to the Orange World wap site, internet browsing, downloading, POP3 email and synchronisation on both GPRS and CSD handsets. It also states that ANY existing GPRS bundle or Access pack is CANCELLED prior to activating the World Access pack and an appropriate GPRS bunldle will be reinstated after the 12 month period. :( :D  It even states changing the SPV WAP connection to Orange GPRS (APN orangeinternet) and setting IE to WAP network :? This won't work just in case anyones told to do it.
Guest lsuhe Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 Can you tell me the URL wher you got these quote from as I just changed to OWA 3 last night, anf the OCS guy quoted me the exact same line, and if there are any billing probs then I'd like to have the infor as proof that that is what they were advertising. I checked with him and he said it wasn't just for WAP, and I also got his name and extension etc for any probs. Up to the first billing date is free so I get from now to 24th ( my billing day) free... :) I've looked on the O site and can't find the quote you were talking about. In another thread, the gprs repricing one there was mention of some guy talking to the O lawyers and them confirming that it was just for WAP which worrys be a little since I don't want a huge bill and after 15th and the 1.6 update I hope to use GPRS a bit more... :( Chris
Guest PsychoDave Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 Right, GOT IT :( I'm just reading the details of the World Access Packs 3&5 now on the Orange intranet :)
Guest fozzie Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 Orange world IS for spv/p800/900 as well as WAP What does that mean? SPV/P800/900 are hardware devices - WAP is a protocol - Orange World is a WAP site. You can't compare them, they're completely different things :? Only noticed myself the other day that the Orange World Portal had changed to a WAP site when I bookmarked it (wap.orange.co.uk)! Think I'll wait a month before people actually get their monstrous bills for web surfing on a WAP tariff
Guest Richie M Posted November 11, 2003 Report Posted November 11, 2003 Yeah, when i signed up i did ask "and thats definitely for 3mb GPRS not just WAP?" and was told "yes, its GPRS"
Guest kingdom master Posted November 12, 2003 Report Posted November 12, 2003 ive gone for the unlimited bundle its great!!!,lol kingdom
