How about "Customisation - Ringtones"?

As subject line. I think the Homescreen area is very cool, though what I'd do would be to make official releases stickeys and let anyone post in there, keeping all homescreen chat in one place. To be able to sort by rating would be neat as well.

But, I'm getting off-topic in the first post!! Why not extend the existing Homescreen set-up into ring tones? There are a couple of posts that could be moved that would instantly load it up with a lot of ringtones, making things easier to find. Let's face it, searching for the word "ringtone" is a bit futile on a mobile discussion board!!

I'd love it, at the moment I'm having to tell people to look through 44 pages if they request a song I've already done ;)

This way they could all be in alphabetical order

Whadda say mods? This could boost your membership massively, as new users log in to access downloads. Personally, I've yet to find a decent ringtone source for the SPV elsewhere.

My personal opinion....not speaking for the group AT ALL.

What's the big deal about ringtones? They're just wav files that almost anyone can make. Maybe some have some neat editing that make it just perfect for the phone...but is it really all that great?

Homescreens, especially the elaborate types such as Midnight's as well as others.

Just an opinion that probably wont be appreciated by the members above...but I thought I'd throw in my 2 cents.

And would it really boost membership in the long run? Tell me if I'm off-base.

(what did my mother say...if you cant say anything nice....something, something).

actually, i think it may be a good idea, then customisation could be more a Q&A than anything else, and also small tweaks etc. At the end of the day, its up to Paul

by the way, off topic, but eventually we will get around to adding a lot more homescreens to the Homescreen-download section.

I must admit I kinda agree with your comment, but you only have to look at my "Collection of Ringtones" thread to see that lots and lots of people really appreciate the ringtones I've made.

No one ever said they were "clever", noone ever said they were hard to make, but what IS difficult is finding one you want amongst 45 pages of ringtones and requests

A dedicated section with all the tones listed alphabetically would make finding ones you're looking for really easy, as well as stopping duplicate and triplicate requests

And would it really boost membership in the long run?

I have been quite surprised over the last few months how many requests for ringtones were from first time posters, so I guess it would boost membership, maybe not massively, but it all counts

I can't believe how long this thread has gone on for, and how many requests I've had, I also posted a step by step guide to making ringtones in the hope that requests might die down, but they certainly haven't!

I've had numerous PM's and emails offering to host my tones on seperate sites, and I've even had offers to sell them on the internet and pay me a commission for every tone sold , I chose to keep them here for free :!:

I guess I kinda forgot how popular ringtones are and that people pay for them on other phones for $1/ringtone.

No offense intended....I was just in a mood yesterday.

Would it be possible for people to upload tones from the various smartphones to the title-thread ?

Are they accessible ?

Is it legal ?

I got some midis from the Motorola and they were pretty good
