Guest Predonica Posted November 12, 2003 Report Posted November 12, 2003 Help...when i play *.MPG/*.MPEG, the film just can't start normally...it moves slow (lag). Can somebody tell me why? I remember that the file was 128kbps, stereo, ???kHz. Should i compress this file first?? Is Windows Media Player only read MP3 and MPG files? how about .AVI? Note: I'm using Orange SPV.
Guest siu99spj Posted November 12, 2003 Report Posted November 12, 2003 OK, firstly you shouldn't really use Windows Media Player for MPG files. It does play them but not too well. And yes you should most definitely compress the file somewhat. However 128kbps MP3's are fine (Hell, a 320kbps file is fine on mine!) As to what plays what, Windows Media Player is best for Windows only files (Encoded in Windows Media Codecs 7 and below). For MPG's I'd have to recommend PocketTV. Its available here: http://www.pockettv.com/ For AVI's, assuming you've encoded them in DivX they're playable in PocketMVP (http://www.angelfire.com/alt/spv-soft/). It can also play MP3's, OGG's and probably a few other types I can't remember at the moment. For more info on encoding and media playing I OWULD have suggested the FAQ, but seeing as no-one has moved my post yet, I'll have to show you my DivX only guide, which is here: http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php...p=184463#184463 Hope this helps. NOTE: For running these files on your phone, you'll need to unlock it first.
Guest Predonica Posted November 12, 2003 Report Posted November 12, 2003 Thanks mate...you're really help me out.. Oh and yes i have decerted my phone!! Thank's a lot!!!
Guest siu99spj Posted November 12, 2003 Report Posted November 12, 2003 Just a quick note to add: I've just put a full thread in the FAQ, its called Media Encoding. I goes through the encoding process in great detail as well as addding a fair few links to help you along. I'll warn you now though, its a bit long if you're running on an analog line, but it should provide any needed answers. If not, you know where to ask!
Guest Predonica Posted November 13, 2003 Report Posted November 13, 2003 Cooollll.....now i can watch .MPEG with SPV and make friends jealous  Thank's...
Guest The PocketTV Team Posted December 7, 2003 Report Posted December 7, 2003 And to make MPEG's optimized for Smartphone, you can check this Simple Guide for making MPEG files optimized for Smartphone.
