Guest Thurstan Posted December 17, 2002 Report Posted December 17, 2002 Hey all I have a problem setting up an email account on my SPV - I use freenetname, who require you to dial up on their own 0845 number in order to check/send email. You can't just check it on any connection like most providers. Is there any way I can do this? Thanks for your time
Guest Simon Hutchings Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 Just follow the instructions on the screen and/or 3.6 in the getting started guide. This does not require a phone number and uses the internet to access your email. I have a lineone account (phone dial up) and it works fine for this. I have read somewhere that the smtp setting should be left as smtp.orange.net so if your smtp setting does not work try this. Simon
Guest cdwilkinson Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 unfortunately u will not be able to access a freenetname email account, as you have to be allocated a freenetname IP address to be validated. This can only be done if you dial there 0845 no. The reason for this locked system is so that they can get the call revenue to pay for the domain name registrations they allocate.
Guest Thurstan Posted December 21, 2002 Report Posted December 21, 2002 cheers anyway guys, looks like I'll be paying to move from freenetname to 1-2-3reg.co.uk!
