Guest nickcornaglia Posted November 13, 2003 Report Posted November 13, 2003 The i600 has a shortcut plugin...but it seems to be locked to just the two offerings...News and Data Card. I tried to plug the clsid into a different skin to see if it works and it STILL shows the News and Data Card no matter how thin (1px high) I make the plugin and without the news and target info. At first I thought it was stuck in memory...but after a powercycle and skin changes it was still there. Why would they decide to only offer the 2 links? Why would they bother to define them in the xml if the plugin holds the data as well. I wonder if there are any more tags to this plugin? <!--2 shortcuts: to VZW MSN News and File Explorer pointing to the Data Card--> <plugin clsid="{C2B4659F-6524-482b-A62A-A1D3096D52DB}" name="launcher"> <news target="iexplore.exe" command-line="http://vzw.msn.com/pocketpc/menu.aspx/News/" text="News"/> <data-card target="windowsfile explorer.exe" command-line="Storage Card" text="Data Card"/> </plugin>
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted November 13, 2003 Report Posted November 13, 2003 Yeah, seems strange... So what does this give you? P
Guest statscat Posted November 13, 2003 Report Posted November 13, 2003 hmmmmmm you sould think the text would be in a tag rather than an attribute (what about languae differences etc) ........ It seems that everyone has copied the orange shortcut plugin so it must have been pretty cool (AT&T even used the same layout) as for the tags try adding the standard tags and see if they have any effect etc. what happens if you try HAve you got a screen shot of the homescreen with the plugin in its original setting and then in your new skin. then I guess I would see what its seems a very strange one but maybe they didn't want them to be configurable .....
Guest nickcornaglia Posted November 15, 2003 Report Posted November 15, 2003 "]Yeah, seems strange... So what does this give you? P Nothing  Still trying.
Guest awesterink Posted December 7, 2003 Report Posted December 7, 2003 Same thing here. Have been messing with this for a while now, but can't get it to show anything else but the original News and Data Card shortcuts. Grrrrrrrrrr.
Guest nickcornaglia Posted December 7, 2003 Report Posted December 7, 2003 Yup...very strange that they use all of the extra XML code to define the plugin when the plugin is hard coded to show only the News link and DataCard link. I agree...why all of the extra XML when it's not even needed.
Guest XKAISERX Posted December 7, 2003 Report Posted December 7, 2003 You guys are doing great work. I've spent sooo much time searching for a solution to this very issue. I MUST HAVE THIS CAPABILITY. Any smarthphone device begs to have specific program shortcuts fixed on the home screen just like any other OS whether it be a wireless device or a PC?!?!? The MRU list is a totally useless function in my opinion. Keep up the good work. Hopefully someone will come up with something.
