Guest andypandy Posted November 14, 2003 Report Posted November 14, 2003 I'm about to buy my first smartphone but I can't decide between the mpx200 and the mio 8380... Are there any differances except for the camera on the 8380 and the internal antenna on the mpx200? I'll be using it mostly for (except regular phone use) reading ebooks and listening to mp3's and also to watch some videos... Also I'd like to develop some Java apps for the phone. Any input would be greatly appreciated!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 14, 2003 Report Posted November 14, 2003 Welcome to the site  The decision for which phone really depends where you are in the world, as the mitac is not very well supported outside of asia where it was released. As for Java, only the mitac has the ability to run java at the moment, but I believe Smartphone 2003 may be capable. (I do not have precise details on this)
Guest whorwood1 Posted November 17, 2003 Report Posted November 17, 2003 go for a mitac both of them are about the same price and can do the same things except the mitac has a built in camera, and the mitac isnt as widly available and so wont be as common, and not that many other people will have it.
Guest andypandy Posted November 18, 2003 Report Posted November 18, 2003 If I want to develop for the phone, why would I go for the phone that isn't as widely available as the other? Anyway I've just decided it'll be neither... I'm getting the Sony Ericsson P900 instead. The clincher was that MPx200 doesn't have Java and the Mitac mio 8380 only has some freaky ms variant...
