Guest kevlar Posted November 14, 2003 Report Posted November 14, 2003 I've read a few people are not happy with Orange not letting you keep your number unless you upgrade, this includes me. I was wondering if the following would work; Cancel existing contract, start a new contract with O2, Voda or whoever, transfer Orange number to new contract. Then cancel your new contract ( I'm assuming you have a short time to cancel ), start a new orange contract, and transfer the number back to new Orange phone. A long shot but is it possible? I probably couldn't be arsed to go through all that myself just to keep a number, and will probably just start a new contract to get the phone cheep ( E200 of course!! ) and then switch to a lower Tariff after the minimum period ( 3 or 4 months usually ) Kevlar
Guest amo Posted November 14, 2003 Report Posted November 14, 2003 Doesnt always work but its possible, i wouldnt recommend it though.
Guest ajb3000 Posted November 14, 2003 Report Posted November 14, 2003 lol, i was just thinking the same thing earlier today. I take it just requesting a PAC code, cancelling then taking new O contract and using that PAC code won't work?
Guest Will Posted November 15, 2003 Report Posted November 15, 2003 but sometimes requesting a pac code persuades orange to give you a better deal...
Guest amo Posted November 15, 2003 Report Posted November 15, 2003 rarely, depends on the monthly spend, consistency, if bills are paid on time, length of custom with orange etc...
Guest Rob_Quads Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 dregging this up abit but heres the solution. Buy a Virvin PAYG connection Pack. Request PAC code and use this when connecting the PAYG. Close off original contract This then gives you a PAYG with your original number on Virgin. Wait 30 days after your original PAC was issued, ring up Virgin and ask for a PAC. Start a new orange contract and use the PAC from virgin. There you go New contract and you kept your number. Costs about £10 to sort the virgin side of things but then chances are you will save much more than £10
Guest shadamehr Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 NOT TRIED PERSONALLY, but... Why not ring Orange for the PAC code... Get new O2 Online SIM - often these are free, or just £1.99, other times £10 though. Take 'your' number from Orange to new O2. Wait a while - not sure how long, but given to believe no minimum time on PAYG for a PAC to be issued - at least not on a SIM only new PAYG. Ask for PAC from O2 online. Get new contract from Orange using O2 PAC - i.e. your same number. Total cost - between nil to £10 max. Total time - maybe as quick as 14 days all round? Like I say though, not tried personally.
