Guest dylane Posted November 15, 2003 Report Posted November 15, 2003 Hi, Does anybody know how to hard reset the Smartphone with bootloader v 1.07.4M?. I have tried booting with the "voice record" button held in, and then held in the "action" button, but it doesn't seem to work.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 15, 2003 Report Posted November 15, 2003 Welcome to the site  That is the way to do a hard reset, just click on the highlighted words to give you a step by step instruction on how to do it. Also make sure you have a storage card in the phone as this slows down the process making ity easier to do.
Guest dylane Posted November 15, 2003 Report Posted November 15, 2003 Thanks, but I have the same problem. When I get to step 9 ... "9. Press and hold the Action button (joystick middle button) for 2 seconds as instructed. " ... I see the following on the phone: - If the phone is plugged into the cradle, it just shows a white screen. - If the phone is not plugged into the cradle, it goes to the multi-coloured screen that shows the bootloader version.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 15, 2003 Report Posted November 15, 2003 When doing a hard reset the phone should not be in the cradle, when pressing the action button wait until the screen goes white then release. Out of curiosity where are you and what phoneOS do you have?
Guest dylane Posted November 16, 2003 Report Posted November 16, 2003 I'm in the UK. The phone was given to me by Microsoft, so it's a non-Orange phone unlocked for any network. It's the Tanager with OS v 3.0 build 13101. As per instructions, I released the button after the screen goes white, but it stays white, and doesn't show the reset menu.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 16, 2003 Report Posted November 16, 2003 Do you have the dummy card in the slot rather than a proper storage card? as normally being stuck on the white screen indicates this.
Guest dylane Posted November 16, 2003 Report Posted November 16, 2003 Aha!, that could be the problem. I only have a dummy card.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 16, 2003 Report Posted November 16, 2003  the final clue was a perminant white screen. You need an storage card in the phone otherwise you cannot enter the bootloader.
