Does this phone work with EDGE?

Here in the states ATTWS just announced the availability of EDGE (Enhanced Data rates for Global Evolution). My question is, will this phone be able to work with EDGE data services? If not, is a new transceiver required, meaning that a software upgrade down the line will not allow it to have the EDGE through put?
