Guest rvacha Posted November 19, 2003 Report Posted November 19, 2003 I have read a few posts in which some people have complained about bad battery packs that needed to be replaced. I don't know if this is related to problem that I have or not, but here it is in a nutshell: if you plug the MPx200 into an unpowered USB charger port, the main battery will discharge in a matter of hours! The conditions under which this will occur are: 1. You plug the phone into the Moto-provided AC charger and the charger is either not plugged into the wall or AC power is lost. 2. You leave it in the USB sync stand and turn off, suspend, or hybernate your PC/notebook, thus turning off USB power to the phone. It appears that the battery discharges through the USB power lines and not the data lines. Both scenarios happened to me on several occassions until I figured out what the problem was. Has anyone else seen this problem?
Guest jerrycutshaw Posted November 19, 2003 Report Posted November 19, 2003 Thanks for pointing that out! I had the same thing happen to me then couldn't figure out why I was out of power 4 hours later. This is also a good thing to know so one can erase the memory in the battery. My understanding this needs to be done with all batteries at some point. Maybe it was a design feature/consideration.

The MPx200 uses a lithium polymer battery and does not have "memory" like many NiCads do. I do not beleive you will ever need to fully dischrage your battery (it seems that the phone does that enough anyway even if you did need to!)
