Guest danbassy Posted November 19, 2003 Report Posted November 19, 2003 How do i set up my E200 to connect to the internet via bluetooth from my PC that has a bluetooth dongle?? Cheers
Guest rhaleuk Posted November 19, 2003 Report Posted November 19, 2003 This is something I would be interested in using also. If only for the novelty of it. I'd love just to see how quick it can be using the broadband. Sadly, my E200 doesnt arrive until tomorrow so I cant tell you with any authority on how to do it.
Guest danbassy Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 has anyone got any ideas on this ?
Guest marksankey Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 How do i set up my E200 to connect to the internet via bluetooth from my PC that has a bluetooth dongle?? Set up Bluetooth Activesync connection and then ensure Internet passthrough connection within ActiveSync seetings is set to 'The Internet'. You'll then be able to browse the internet on your phone...but not the Orange World sites.
Guest peligoni Posted November 24, 2003 Report Posted November 24, 2003 I've managed to finally get the Bluetooth connection working for normal syncing operations (Contacts, Tasks etc.)...but..on using the 'Pass through' option under [start/Settings/Data Connections/Internet Connection] I manage to get one or maybe two pages under PIE and also seem to almost initiate an MSN Messenger session before the connection drops. After successfully reconnecting via Activesync I can then more or less repeat this over and over again. Running the same tests from the USB cradle works faultlessly. Is there some sort of timeout option for this sort of thing as it seems as though normal syncing operations work fine, but do anything else seems to cause the connection to drop/timeout? I've seen some discussions about USB ports causing this and moving the device onto alternative ports on the same machine but I've done that as well as try the same thing on 4 machines now with the same results. My Bluetooth device is a apparently nameless device although it comes with XTNDConnect Blue Manager application/drivers. Feel I'm so so close to getting this working which is why it is so frustrating.
Guest blueplanet Posted November 25, 2003 Report Posted November 25, 2003 Has someone got this working? If so, what USB bluetooth adapter are you using? And how did you configure the phone? Is there any point getting a Class1(100m) USB adapter or is Class2 just as good since the phone will be the weakest point? From MSmobiles: http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php...etooth+internet Bluetooth dial-up profile is one-sided: it means you can connect your PC or Pocket PC to Internet with E200 but you cannot connect E200 to Internet the other way around - for example by using another cell phone; it denies the thesis that Smartphone is a combination of PDA and cell phone. Does this mean it will not work?
Guest peligoni Posted November 25, 2003 Report Posted November 25, 2003 I tried a colleagues Belkin Bluetooth USB dongle today and that seemed to work fine, using a Guest partnership whereas choosing the other sort caused it to drop the connection again...may have been a fluke but seemed pretty stable. Read that XTNDConnectBlue drivers aren't that good and using other manufacturers (e.g. Belkin, MSI) actually work with my own USB Bluetooth adapter and is better all round so going to give that a go once its all downloaded.
Guest blueplanet Posted November 28, 2003 Report Posted November 28, 2003 How far away from the bluetooth adapter does the phone work? And how far away when going through walls?
Guest peligoni Posted November 28, 2003 Report Posted November 28, 2003 I found it worked for about 10m, even through walls/ceiling ie. adapter running upstairs and able to browser from phone whilst on ground floor. Main trick for my BT adapter was to find some alternative drivers to the ones that came in the box...using MSI drivers now and they are much more stable.
Guest creature777 Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 The setting should be "Work" for the phone to have access the internet via the bluetooth
