Guest JampoTT Posted November 19, 2003 Report Posted November 19, 2003 Just spoke to Orange upgrades this afternoon.... my contract doesn't expire until early next year, so I was expecting a knockback or significant fee to be added..... Result? I should have an E200 in my sticky mits on Friday AM for the rather cool price of £99.99.... Ok so I could get it cheaper if I took out a new contract (and get more texts etc to boot) but its imperative I keep this number, and I'm still in contract anyway!! More than happy with this outcome - was expecting to have to pay nearer twice that amount when you add on the upgrade fee!!!
Guest capt_janeway Posted November 19, 2003 Report Posted November 19, 2003 Jammy boy - what tariff you on if you don't mind me asking?
Guest drblow Posted November 19, 2003 Report Posted November 19, 2003 strange! my contract is up early next year, & i was quoted 250 quid for upgrade - where did u get that price?? Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest rikwebb Posted November 19, 2003 Report Posted November 19, 2003 Yeh, what tarrif are you on for £99?. I am on the Talk200, and they want £149....... Well, I say want, what I mean is, what they wanted, and got!. E200 arriving within 3 days.... Rik
Guest JampoTT Posted November 19, 2003 Report Posted November 19, 2003 TBH I can't remember my talktime package - but I've been on Talk 400 (I think - certainly nothing higher) and 360 text addons... (oh, and I had Line2 for a while as well, but only on Talk 30) Been a reasonably "heavy" user (I'm working away from home) so my usual bill is between £120 and £200 per month (average about £160) That price was direct from Orange - phoned 150 and went through to the Upgrade department......
Guest drblow Posted November 20, 2003 Report Posted November 20, 2003 Mmmm... I just had a wee chat with 150 - they told me that the price of an upgrade can vary from user to user depending on 'a number of factors'!! According to the young lady - these 'factors' can include things like how heavy your usage level is, how long your contract has to run, what tariff you are on/want to be on etc. They quoted me 149 quid (inc. VAT) at the end of my contract - for either talk 200 or 400, but wanted 125 'upgrade fee' if I wanted the e200 now!! My contract is up at the end of January. I remember somebody spread a rumour that if you complained to/about Orange too much, your upgrade fee was put up!! Couldn't be me then! ;) Go figure!! :? Looks like I'll be e200less until next year!
Guest Taoski Posted November 20, 2003 Report Posted November 20, 2003 Orange called me and quoted £149 for the phone and £99 for the upgrade fee. I have only had my contract (talk 300) since May this year. The bloke advised me to wait until December when my contract hit 6 months time and the price would go down. He even said not to bother rushing to get the phone straight away and to wait until a few months time when the price drops.
Guest Coucou Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 TBH I'm going to wait till next May, by which time I won't have an upgrade fee and all those little bugs have been ironed out. I know there don't seem to be many bugs but I'm quite happy to let other people do the hard work of finding them and fixing them and reaping the rewards of patience  Just think of me as a big friendly parasite ;)
Guest nomaduk Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 Checked with Orange upgrades twice and they say they don't even have an upgrade price on the E200 yet! They say it will be available on 24th Nov and that's when the upgrade price will be released.
Guest blewer Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 They are lying, check again
Guest Tapi Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 Seems to me Orange can be variable in their responses. I am still within my 12mths but they are upgrading me free of charge with free E200 and £50 credit on my next bill!?!?!? I was a touch baffled by it all but what the hey!
