Wi- Fi/ Broadband

Thinking of making myself broadband and a wi-fi network for christmas, could anyone tell me the best kit for a network that will include 2/3 PCS 2 laptoops and an x box cos i heard that a lot of isp's/ modems are not set up well for xbox. I'm looking probably for a router + access point and 2 PC wireless cards and one laptop one. Probably going for 802.11g, do you reckon thats wise?

Also wheres the cheapest to get them from?
