Guest moo_ski_doo Posted November 19, 2003 Report Posted November 19, 2003 Here's the new version of ReplaceSound for Windows Mobile 2003. In case you don't know, this is a small app to get rid of the cowbell sound when you add contacts to messages.ReplaceSound2003.zip
Guest Pagemakers Posted November 19, 2003 Report Posted November 19, 2003 Nope. Its does not work. Program is listed in Windows/Startup and Storage/Program Files. I have re-booted my phone and the clunk is there when you add a contact
Guest moo_ski_doo Posted November 19, 2003 Report Posted November 19, 2003 Doh! Don't know why that doesn't work. I'll have to spend some more time looking at it, keep an eye on this thread...
Guest Pagemakers Posted November 19, 2003 Report Posted November 19, 2003 Version 1 also installed in the correct places, but the bloody ding is still there as well
Guest gsr264 Posted November 20, 2003 Report Posted November 20, 2003 Will that type of windows mobile app work on a smartphone operating system in the first place?
Guest moo_ski_doo Posted November 20, 2003 Report Posted November 20, 2003 Pagemakers has just told me that Windows Mobile 2003 won't let you overwrite system files like Smartphone 2002 does, so it looks like this program won't work anymore since this is exactly what it's trying to do. I'm afraid that it looks like 2003 users are stuck with this irritating noise  Not a lot I can do about this, sorry!
Guest Pagemakers Posted November 20, 2003 Report Posted November 20, 2003 Moo - Looks like the default.wav file can be overwritten. Maybe your tweak will work?
Guest moo_ski_doo Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 The latest version of ReplaceSound has been uploaded here. See the first post in this thread. Note that you might still need to have your phone app-unlocked to use this app (I can't be sure because I don't have a handset to test it on myself - Pagemakers has tested it on one of his app-unlocked phones tho.)
Guest Pagemakers Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 It works on one phone but not the other so it would be interesting to see what others report. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest Pagemakers Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 It has been woring fine on my phone for 2 days. Now it has stopped working and the bing is back! Re-installing it makes no difference. Please can someone else test this app? It really is one of the best tweaks available, only if we can get it to work on an E200.
Guest Pagemakers Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 Just thought. If you set "system sound" to off. The bing is gone  What else is lost with system sound off? Just the menu noises?
Guest Ytterbium Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 Didn't work for me either but the default.wav in windows is blank after boot? I copy'ed the file to the Storage folder and gave it another name & change the default regkey sound to point to this and it still bonk's. It's must be hard coded into the SMS proggy??

Guest giuliastro Posted August 1, 2004 Report Posted August 1, 2004 It doesn't work for me either. But just because default.wav is not responsible of that sound.. well, it's the same sound but nothing happens replacing it or using another one. I have another file, ding.amr, which is exactly the same cowbell sound, but replacing it didn't work either. There might be some differences with ROMs, I have the IMATE one and I still haven't found where the hell is located this buggy sound..
