Guest gitaarwerk Posted November 19, 2003 Report Posted November 19, 2003 Hi..well..the title sais enough.. (orange spv canary) 1.6 they said it was the real one.. but actually it was a test.. (i downloaded directly from a forum) and i couldn't call anymore.. so..i tried downgrading to 1.5.. too bad.. no i cant do anything anymore
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 20, 2003 Report Posted November 20, 2003 This was posted by Dumdidum I found a way back to another image.........................! First download the update which you want to install unrar it with WINRAR. Then start again the update 1.63 and proceed until he says that he will now update! At this point, copy the NK.nbf-File from your update to the this directory: C:Program FilesRUU_ORG_NL there it should replace the 1.63-NK.nbf! then he will install the version you want instead of 1.63! This method should work, but as you are saying it is not booting at all? can you get to the canary screen?
Guest gitaarwerk Posted November 20, 2003 Report Posted November 20, 2003 i can understand that should work.. but..err.. it doesnt even say it is connecten on active sync :{ so..jep..just the canary screen...and i can go to the hard reset option...
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 20, 2003 Report Posted November 20, 2003 Ok that's fine do the above from the canary screen, don't worry about Activsync as it is not active when the phone is in the canary mode.
Guest Richie M Posted November 20, 2003 Report Posted November 20, 2003 and yet another example why you shouldn't install a ROM that is not downloaded from your service provider
Guest gitaarwerk Posted November 20, 2003 Report Posted November 20, 2003 tnks all..it works!! now hoping i can call again :S
Guest drawds Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 Hi everyone, I'm new here... but I wanted to share my experience with you. - I have a SPV E100 bought in the UK from Orange. - My Bootloader is version 1.00 - I downloaded the SPV Unlock software but it said "invalid code - aborting" - Through your forum. I discovered that I needed to have version 0.98 in order to unlock it. - Then found that I needed to download the Orange Update from http://www.monolithix.org/SPV_software.html in order to downgrade my program. - I downloaded it, and followed the instructions and apparently everything was working fine and it installed the program successfully. - Until I had tried to turn my phone back on and it didn't... - First it was stuck on the SMART PHONE 2002 screen for ages... - Then I removed the battery again and turned it on again, it was stuck on the Orange screen with the sunset. Repeated that again and nothing. Ignoring that specific problem, I then went to the canary screen and it says I have 0.98 version. So I loaded the SPV unlock software and it worked successfully and gave me the unlock code. YAY  I then followed the instructions from here: http://www.freeyourmobile.com/spvunlock.htm and put a SIM card from another network so it would ask me to type the unlock number. But it was still stuck in the orange screen forever! ;) I then called Orange data support (156) and they told me that I should take the battery off the phone, put it back on, then put the phone in the charger and while it's there charging turn it back on and wait 10 minutes. 30 minutes later..... it was still stuck. Called Orange AGAIN and asked them how I could download the latest software update and they sent me here: http://www.orange.com/english/forwardthink.../spvupdate2.asp I downloaded it... went to canary screen and ran the installation program. It said I was upgrading to version 1.36. Again, everything went smoothly in the installation... Took off the battery for 30 seconds as instructed... Again, stuck on the orange sunset screen. Canary still said 0.98... Called Orange again... they had me press the record + power button and then hold the action key before it went to the canary screen. It took me to these menu options in which I had to erase my IPSM  And I have no backup! :-( He had me restart the phone and wait 10 minutes and garanteed me it'd work.... They also asked me to put the orange SIM card there... but I left the T-mobile one just to see if it's ask me for the unlock code... 10 minutes later... (nothing yet, let's give it a few more minutes and call orange again) called Orange... another 10 minutes with them on the phone and this time the guy didn't know anything about the phone. He even suggested I had the phone replaced within 24 to 48 hours. But because I have already got the code for it successfuly, I want to try and solve this problem. I gave it another try... turned it back on in the caddle and nothing... I suspect that if I upgrade it back to 1.50 it might just work... Called orange again... Now they tell me that I can't upgrade it back again and that I'm pretty much screwed! It's been about 3 hours since I decided to unlock my phone... I'd now rather have my working phone with all my files and LOCKED than maybe have lost the phone completely. :-( I'm downloading ROM 1.6 from smart amazing... will post another message if it works... Edward
Guest drawds Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 Tried installing the 1.6 upgrade from Smart Amazing and it said: Smartphone identification error cannot identify your phone please perform a normal reset on your smart phone and run this software again. I did it and it didn't work. Please someone help me! I want my phone back!
Guest drawds Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 Apparently you can't downgrade the SPV E100 to 0.98 without totally crashing it.... and that's what I've done... now Orange want to charge me £30 to get Emergency Care and replace my phone... then I'd have to pay another £5 extra a month for the next year (£60 a year). Total cost of trying to unlock my phone: £90 Having some one help me find a fix for this... priceless! Please! someone help me!!!
Guest drawds Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 I just downloaded the i-mate ROM and now my phone seems to be working again... I need to reconfigure the WHOLE thing again now! I'm using a T-mobile SIM card and it's asking me for the SIM LOCK password. I typed the number the SPVunlock.exe gave me but it's not working. ok, so nevermind.. got my Orange SIM card back in there and it works fine... now, all of a sudden it says: turning off phone to change language... my phone restarts and comes back in french! Changed it back to english... but now I just noticed that there are no GPRS settings available... I'll have to call orange and see if they can send it to me. They've done it once before, but I DID have the orange software. Christ I'm lucky today!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 Welcome to the site  First off this as said above is why we do not recommend playing around with different updates, Ok there is a sticky post above called "IMPORTANT INFO on downgrading your e100" this explains why you were stuck on the sunset screen, it's due to screen driver incompatability. As for being stuck on the Smartphone 2002 screen this is normal, and can take a while as the IPSM at this point is being rewritten. Now it's a good job you did not get the SMART update working as it's not designed for the UK market and from what I understand actually re-locks the SIM. Now the bootloader that comes with SMART is NOT downgradable. Now about the I-Mate ROM it's a nice ROM and works well, as for not having the settings available, if you do a Hard Reset they should be available again. This is one problem you can get from an initial upgrade and is why I always recommmend doing a Hard Reset after any update. Now the next problem you have is that the I-Mate update has a different radio stack, this means that you lose the ability of some of the radio (network) options like Orange backup etc. The Upgrade you should have used and is recommended by Orange is the Swiss 1.5 update. This is available from here, >>>>> ORANGE SWISS UPDATE
Guest drawds Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 Wow thanks so much for that... you're a saint and deserves to be worshiped! lol  That update is really all I really needed yesterday... but now I installed the I-Mate software I am VERY pleased with it... - the message composer has a counter for how many letters are remainging - After you put a period it capitalizes the next letter. - the photo software is REALLY a 100x better than orange's - I love the fact that I can record little videos. - I can attach pictures to email messages. I know (apart from the letter counter and period thing) these are softwares I could get with the Orange version anyways... but you have to pay for them don't you? The only thing I noticed is a tad bit worse is when you select a contact you want to message it asks you which number (home or mobile) whereas the orange rom just assumes it's the Mobile number. Wonder if there's a fix for that? After I installed this new ROM I put a different SIM card and it wouldn't accept the code I managed to get from SPVUnlock. I still would like to unlock it... but how do I? I don't know if I care about the warranty thing... apart from that, can I keep imate instead of the Orange ROM? I don't care about the backup and the update thing either... unless you think the update may be of use in the future. Also, I already reinstalled all my little applications and settings into the phone so it looks just the same... if I install the orange ROM I'll have to do that all over again, right? So basically, in a few words 1- how do I unlock it now? (I do have a code) 2- do you recommend installing the Orange Rom or can I keep imate? Thanks a MILLION once again! Edward PS: Sorry I couldn't reply earlier, you messaged me at 6am and I just woke up now at 8:30am (had less than 6 hour sleep  )
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 It should accept the code :? if not then you still need to downgrade the bootloader. 2, To be honest I like the I-Mate & Qtek and do not have a favourite with them or the Orange update.
Guest drawds Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 I'll give it another try soon and let you know... I haven't tried the Qtek one... and I don't intend to... but I really liked the little features from the IA Album that came with the Imate. I've configured the GPRS now and it's all working beautifully. :-) Thanks once again, speak soon. Edward
Guest drawds Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 WOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!!! It's unlocked! YAY YAY YAY YAY YAY! ;) :( :) I can't believe it! I swear it didn't work the other times! Phew! that was HARD!!! But it was totally worth it!
Guest drawds Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 Christ I almost wrote a book about my experience eh?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 Only almost  Glad it's sorted now.
