Guest Raz101 Posted November 20, 2003 Report Posted November 20, 2003 What's the max capacity the MPX can handle? I already need more space and not sure how high I can go... Also, do you have to buy a specific branded type from Orange or does any generic card work? Thanks.
Guest danhs Posted November 20, 2003 Report Posted November 20, 2003 everything i've read says the max sd card size is 1gb, spv has no probs with generic cards so i don't suppose the mpx does either
Guest nickcornaglia Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 I'm not even sure that 1GB is a limit. If they come out with a better/bigger card...it will probably still work.
Guest Raz101 Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 I'll probably go for 256MB... And for anyone thinking of getting this phone, do so. It's bloody good. Very responsive, so much to do with it too. I can't believe how lacking my old phone was. It's also my first smartphone... Last night, I only had 0.19MB left on the SD after getting a bit overexcited with ringtones. So when I came to send my first text, nothing was happening. The phone was giving me an occasional warning about low storage space but no errors when sending. I made sure I had GPRS signal and could still browse the net and IM too. Hence it took me a bit of time to put 2+2 together. Need some L plates.
Guest ranzz Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 Help me put 2+2 togather too! what's the connection between messeging that's done solely from the phone memory and the SD card that does not take an active part in the operating system?
Guest Raz101 Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 Beats me... Maybe it was having one of its freak-outs. On the first day, it refused to power up without going slow and freezing. Then five minutes later it was back to normal.
Guest Shuflie Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 Help me out here too, what's the connection between putting too many ringtones on the phone and the SD card running out of space? Does the MPx200 support ringtones form the SD card? The SPV doesn't as far as I know.
Guest ranzz Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 There's absulutely no connection, and the MPx200 supports it (guessing here, because =>) like the spv DOES support it.
Guest Raz101 Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 Cleared it up after more reading on here and some brain application. The tones were going onto the internal memory, not the SD. Doh... Well this is my first smartphone and it's proved I'm not that smart. Found 512MB cards for £130 so will get one of them. Waiting to decert so I can do the PHM tweaks stuff.
Guest hecatae Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 where are you getting the 512mb card from for such a good price? Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 Does the MPx200 support ringtones form the SD card? The SPV doesn't as far as I know. Yes and depending on SPV update yes as well
Guest ranzz Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 Why buy for 130GBP when you can buy for 130USD? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&category=50525
Guest Shuflie Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 Yes and depending on SPV update yes as well  Now that is a new one on me  Which update on the SPV brought that in then, and where do the ringtones go on the SD card to get picked up? Is it SD Cardapplication dataSounds ? EDIT: Never mind found out by trawling through a few old posts about the Imate and Qtek. To save anyone else having to do this the correct location is in My Documents on the SD card. You learn something new every day :D
